In this episode, Channa Channa Channa talks to Jessy Switchblade, vocalist of South African heavy metal from Pretoria, Deadline. Channa discovered Deadline through a friend and immediately love the recent covers they did of Ghost, Billy Idol and Dio. 

Deadline are on the forefront of the New Wave of South African Heavy Metal (NWOSAHM) and mix elements of traditional heavy metal, thrash metal, power metal and hard rock in their music. Deadline are known for their passionate, energetic stage shows and have a loyal fan base all over South Africa known as the Deadline Heavy Metal Crew (DLHMC).

Deadline's debut album, "Black Wolf City" was released worldwide on 14 October 2017. Their subsequent single "Before I Die" was released on 19 June 2020, followed by the release of their sophomore album "Cathedral Point" on 26 June 2020.

In this episode, Channa Channa Channa talks to Nicol and Filip of STELL/\RIS, a modern metal band from Prague, Czech Republic.  Channa got connected with Nicol on Facebook and discovered Stell/\ris. 

STELL/\RIS is a five-piece band to first hit the stage at the beginning of 2020 and since then released one single ‘Find Your Course’. Currently the band finished a new single and working on completing their full-length album. 

Currently the lineup consists of Nicol- vocals, Jamie - drummer, Filip - guitarist, Milpi - guitarist and Libor - bassist.

In this episode, Channa Channa Channa talks to Kenny Hughes, the travelling blues musician from South Africa. Channa discovered Kenny through a friend.  Channa loved Kenny’s music as it felt so true to the roots of blues. 

Kenny grew up in a musical home where music of Dire Straits, Eric Clapton, CCR was played a lot.  He discovered blues later and considers Jimi Hendrix, Philip Sayce, Dan Patlansky and Albert Frost as his blues influences. 

Kenny gets his inspiration and passion for Blues from the open road and recently released his latest single '19:20'.  He currently on tour in South Africa.

In this episode, Channa Channa Channa talks to Kevin Loo and Alif Putra from Singapore rock band Peep Show SG. Channa watched Peep Show SG in 2019 and became friends with the band.   

Peep Show has fearlessly inspired the whole music scene by organizing post covid gigs and proving shows can be executed with proper safety precautions. 

Outside of Peep Show, Kevin and Alif are busy on many projects, including Kevin's new band Rock Apollo which released a new single and Alif is busy promoting positivity with Yay+ community.

In this episode, Channa Channa Channa talks to Remy Fan, the vocalist/songwriter of Singapore/Bangkok based thrash metal band ESP. Channa discovered Remy and ESP via Facebook.  Channa is also a frequent viewer of 'In Conversation with ESP' which is an internet talk show hosted by Remy. 

Remy grew up in a typical Asian family in Singapore. When he was sixteen, he started playing guitar to impress girls but later on discovered Blues. In the 90s he discovered heavy music through bands like Nirvana, Green Day and Megadeth introduced him to the world of Thrash Metal and the rest was history.   He played in many bands with his friends.  Remy also promoted and organized metal gigs. 

Remy writes Chinese love songs, Children’s songs, and Thrash Metal. Remy formed ESP and released their first EP with Rex “The Sex” Viperon in 2017.

During 2020 covid lockdown, Steven started the livestreamed show “The Helhammer Hangout” to talk about music. Quickly he realized, most of the bands had massive talent and great ambitions, but no business plan and hence often struggled to reach their goals and full potential.

In this episode, Channa Channa Channa talks to members of Voodoo Moonshine the bluesy groove rock band from Memphis, TN. Voodoo Moonshine consist of Pedro Espada on Vocals, Jeff Losawyer & Jeffrey LaRoche on Guitars, Tommy Ray Neeleys on Bass and Eddie Cruise on Drums. Channa discovered them through a friend.

The debut album, Decade of Decay, was released in March 2005, and was well received throughout Europe. A tour was booked, including shows in England, Ireland, and Scotland. Due to the album’s success, they were voted “Number One Band” seven times in England, and six times in Japan. In mid 2005, Voodoo Moonshine was introduced in Dublin, Ireland and quickly became one of the top three requested bands there.
