In this episode, Channa Channa Channa talks to Swedish pop-metal duo Flight of Icarus.  Channa was introduced to Flight of Icarus by a friend, and he immediately loved them because of their band name is inspired by Iron Maiden song.   The Duo is made out of singer Elisabeth Särnefält and multi-instrumentalist Oskar Frantzén based in Gothenburg.

In this episode Channa Channa Channa talks to Dan M.J Van Dort (Vocals, lyrics and guitars),  Gimantha Upasena (Guitars),  Allan Barthelot (Guitars and keys), Hafzel Preena (Drums and percussion) and Yohan Siriwardena(Bass), the members of Sri Lankan progressive metal band Sacrament. Channa discovered Sacrament via Facebook and always admired their sound and amazing live performance. 

Sacrament is a metal band based in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Formed in mid 2011 as a side project alongside Dark Rose (Disbanded in 2012). Sacrament is a resident name in the local metal scene despite sporadic music releases. 

Sacrament is celebrating their 10th year anniversary in 2021 and to commemorate this milestone they are planning on releasing their debut album.

In this episode, Channa Channa Channa talks to Osaka-bound, WellnessTech Entrepreneur and Head of AI Operations Jean Alfonso-Decena.  Channa met Jean through Vegan and Yoga communities in the Philippines and has been friends for many years.  Recently Channa reconnected with Jean through Minimal Living FB group which founded by Jean to promote minimalism. 

Jean created JaiMala - the first Philippine vegan and yoga apparel brand in Manila to spread message of compassion. She rebranded this into wellness shop The JaiMala Shop and founded In Silence, to educate and provide tools and resources for people to build a holistic wellness routine by incorporating yoga, meditation, high-vibration food and conscious consumption of technology.

Jean also has a musical past. Working at a legendary record store, performing in OPM bands and helping artists/producers professional recording tools.

In this episode, Channa Channa Channa talks to Sanjeev Niles, the classical baritone singer, song writer and composer from Sri Lanka. Channa met Sanjeev during Rock Company gigs in early 2000s, when Sanjeev fronted the goth rock band Stonebroke.  

Sanjeev has stylistically primarily influenced by classical music while drawing from other genres such as Rock and Metal as well.

He has released several original songs which incorporate symphonic classical orchestration and extend to other instruments like Sri Lankan drums and also acoustic and electric guitar.  He has also collaborated with some leading musicians in Sri Lanka.

Hiraeth is from Gauteng province, South Africa and it’s a unique mix of musicians of different backgrounds, Hiraeth blends a fusion of different inspirations into a sound that is as idiosyncratic as the members themselves.  

They have been nominated for South African Metal Music Awards multiple times and Hiraeth​, unleashed their brand new 4 track EP titled ​‘Aeonian’​ ​on the 4th of November 2020.

In this episode, Channa Channa Channa talks to Matt Sokol the founding member, guitarist and vocalist of blackened speed/thrash metal band Wraith that hails from Northwest Indiana. Channa discovered Wraith when they released a split EP “Speed Armageddon” with the Australian black thrash and roll band Bastardizer. 

Matt got into rock influenced by his Dad, he started playing guitar in middle school.  He also played for bands like SKOG , Headlock prior to forming Wraith.  

Wraith was formed in 2016 and released their debut full length album Absolute Power in 2019.  Wraith consist of Matt Sokol on Vocals/Guitars,  Chris Petkus on Bass, Mike Szymendera on Drums and Jason Schultz on lead guitars. Wraith released Index Case EP while in lockdown and they will be releasing a new full length later this year entitled 'Undo the Chains'

In this episode, Channa Channa Channa talks to Satanael, Neofolk artist from Germany. Channa discovered Satanael via friend. Channa was very curious about Neo Folk genre. 

Satanael wrote his first songs in 2015, and 2017.  He released a first split album at Zazen Sounds, the Label the  infamous Acherontas Leader. At the same time he released “Night ov Nihilism“and “When Darkness Comes“, identical albums with one different song at each. 

Satanael’s thematical focus lays on darkness and satanism, whereas neofolk is very “light orientated“or sometimes referred as Darkfolk.
