Tonight on Chapter & Pillow, we settle in with two cozy holiday classics, beginning with O. Henry's heartwarming tale, The Gift of the Magi. This famous story follows a young couple who are short on money but rich in love as they look for the perfect Christmas gifts for each other. Afterward, we move into The Child’s Story by Charles Dickens, which is a soft, reflective look at the journey of life.
Together, these two timeless pieces create a perfectly calm, comforting atmosphere for your evening.
This soft, ad-free narration features slow pacing to help you quiet your thoughts, let go of the day, and drift off naturally.
Behind the Story: "O. Henry" was actually a pen name for William Sydney Porter. He spent several years living right here in the American South, working on his writing while spending quiet time in places like Texas and North Carolina. He was famous for his surprise endings, but he always made sure his holiday stories were wrapped in absolute warmth and compassion. And, of course, we all know Dickens, an English novelist, generally considered the greatest of the Victorian era.
