Episode 3 is our FIRST interview! On the show today we have Melinda Bell. She is a retired English and broadcast journalism teacher. Before she taught, she was an executive in film and cable advertising across the U.S. She received her Masters in Mass Communications at the University of Denver in 1978.
She also happens to be MY mother! And the best one I could possibly ask for.
I debated having my mom as my first interview, (talk about dweeb) but she is TRULY one of the most intelligent & inspiring women I know! I think you are really going to appreciate and learn a lot from this genuine conversation rooted in unconditional love & family. WHOLESOME AF
This episode we dive deep into her experience with a 24 hr digital detox, why she loves and values technology (especially in 2020), mental health struggles and the stigma that surrounds that, receiving a new diagnosis later in life, self- acceptance, what generations can learn from one another and why you should compliment strangers.
We also talk about core values and Brene Brown’s list from Dare to Lead which you can find here: https://daretolead.brenebrown.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Values.pdf
It’s not all rainbows and butterflies in this interview but it’s real and raw!! She gives powerful insight into how expressing yourself and mental health struggles has changed in her lifetime, what to do if you don’t have unconditional love from your mother figure and advice to her younger self on how to navigate career changes, life changes and finding out who you are as you grow and change!
So, if you're in the mood for a cup of tea, a hug and a kick in the butt all at once, you're in the right place!
