Last night on the show “Designated Survivor”, Kiefer Sutherland’s portrayal of the President of the United States got the phone call to a deceased soldier’s widow right.

Raymond Caissie was released from jail after serving his full sentence.  He was in jail for 22 years for a violent sexual assault which was the maximum time he could serve. Upon his release the police knew he was dangerous.  In fact they even reported on his release with a photograph to let people someone dangerous was once again free.  Just over a year later he had committed a crime again, this time it was a murder.  Today his sentence came down for that murder of Serena Vermeersch.

Finance Minister Bill Morneau is still facing questions over how he handled his personal fortune when he entered government in 2015, despite him taking steps to address the issue.  And more than once today, at a news conference in Waterloo, Ontario, Morneau appeared exasperated over the questions he's being asked.

All three of the workers killed in an ammonia leak at a Fernie arena have been identified.  The provincial coroners service says the men who died were Fernie residents Wayne Hornquist and Lloyd Smith, and Turner Valley, Alberta, resident Jason Podloski.
