More than forty eight hours after the deadliest mass shooting in history of the United States, police have still not yet established a motive. 59 people died in the attack, including four Canadians.

It may seem at times that the only news we hear, is bad news.  News about death, news about destruction by human hands or those of Mother Nature.  But in all that bad news, there is also hope. 

Vegas shooting continued - We spoke earlier about the two Canadians who were killed, and have heard countless stories from dozens who were affected by the attack. One of those who was affected was Victoria BC’s police chief. He spoke to reporter Jeremy Lye earlier today.

Jagmeet Singh made history Sunday when he became the first non-Caucasian leader of a federal political party as he was elected leader of the Canadian NDP. He’s being described as “hip,young and charismatic - but is that enough to take down the Liberal government in the next election?

We turn our attention now to an attack closer to home. Over the weekend 30 year old Abdulahi Sharif stabbed an Edmonton Police officer, and struck four pedestrians as he fled in a U-Haul truck on Saturday night. The attack is being treated as a terror attack and reports have come out confirming Sharif had a history with the police, and that they were aware he was “espousing extremist ideology.”

We’re learning more about the people who were killed or injured in the Vegas attack - so far we know 2 Canadians are among those killed - Jessica Klymchuk, a 34 year old mother from Alberta had 4 children, and was an educational assistant, librarian and bus driver at St. Stephen’s School. Jordan McIldoon, a 23 year old from Maple Ridge was just days away from his 24th birthday. Meanwhile, the White House says this is NOT the time to talk gun control. Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Tom Petty has been rushed to a hospital in Los Angeles.

We wanted to take some time here to talk more about the Canadians, and Americans affected by this tragedy.
