Shocking surveillance video posted to YouTube shows a Calgary convenience store clerk frantically struggling with two intruders armed with what appears to be axes and a crowbar.

In the video, one intruder is seen at the A Plus 1 Convenience on Fairmont Drive S.E. ransacking the cabinet behind the counter and threatening the employee with weapons as the second intruder fights with him in the corner, armed with what appears to be an axe.

The Environmental Protection Agency says it's checking the smoke coming from a Houston-area chemical plant where highly unstable compounds have caught fire. The police lieutenant, caught on a dashcam in Georgia, telling a woman at a traffic stop that "we only kill black people" plans to retire. Lt. Greg Abbott of Cobb County police stood to lose his job for the comments. The Cobb County Public Safety Director Samuel Heaton said today the department had received an email from Abbott requesting retirement. The BC provincial government has announced it is waiving tuition for kids leaving foster care at all of B-C's public post-secondary institutions.
Premier John Horgan made the announcement at Vancouver Island University -- one of 11 schools already offering a similar program.

It's a major setback for a woman who accused her ex-husband of molesting her children, and the Ministry of Children and Family Development of allowing it to happen to one of them. The BC Court of Appeal has found a lower court judge made serious errors accepting expert testimony from a so-called child abuse expert. But  it's not the end of the road for a very controversial case. The lawyer for the mother, identified as JP, says they are disappointed in the ruling -- and will now take it to the Supreme Court of Canada.
