A judge has rejected an application to have a British Columbia man designated a high-risk accused after he was found not criminally responsible for killing his three children nine years ago. Justice Martha Devlin of the B.C. Supreme Court says Allan Schoenborn does not pose a high enough risk that he could cause grave physical or psychological harm to another person. Devlin says based on Schoenborn's progress, current mental condition and the opinions of experts, there is no reason to believe he poses a serious enough threat to warrant the designation. Schoenborn was convicted of first-degree murder in 2010 for killing his daughter and two sons, but found not criminally responsible because of a mental disorder.

People have begun laying floral tributes, photos and personal messages at the gates of Kensington Palace as Britain observes the 20th anniversary of the death of Princess Diana. Thursday marks two decades since Diana died in a car crash in Paris, triggering a flood of public grief. Princes William and Harry honoured their mother Wednesday at Kensington Palace, her former home, visiting a garden where she would stroll by and ask the gardeners about their ever-changing displays.

Good news for the Canadian Economy - This year’s GDP growth is the strongest in the past 15 years!  Our economy surged past second-quarter expectations with an annual growth rate of 4.5% - its best start since 2002.

As most of North America focuses on flooding in Texas, over one thousand people have died in floods in South Asia this Summer. Chris Godfrey, the 32 year old who was struck in the head with a softball while competing in a Slo-pitch game has died.  A desperate Texas woman from Arlington was trying to reach emergency services in Beaumont, Texas, seeking help for a daughter and her grandchildren who were caught up in the disaster. She did end up getting through to someone from Beaumont...but turned out it was Beaumont Alberta, not Texas.

For those living in BC, you’ll know just how awful ICBC can be, with critics calling it a “financial train wreck.” The new BC NDP government is plotting out possible solutions as the corporation continues to lose money, and floats around the idea of raising insurances rates by as much as 30%. One CKNW reporter experienced that ICBC sticker shock first hand this week, when her insurance went up almost $100, even though she had to infractions or crashes.
