Yesterday, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats hired, and then quickly un-hired Art Briles, the former NCAA Baylor University Bears head coach as their team’s assistant coach. Briles was once at the center of a massive sexual assault scandal at the university, and his hiring was announced on the same day the Tiger-Cats were set to host a women’s only football clinic.

Murder charges have been laid in an Edmonton house fire that claimed the life of a five month old baby boy. Investigators believe 19 year old Bronson Woycenko and 18 year old Jessica Tammerand intentionally set outdoor patio furniture on fire near the front door of the home where the 5 month old lived.

 Meanwhile, Cordell Brown, the father of baby killed in the blaze, was also arrested after the fatal arson, but Edmonton police say that his arrest was “unrelated” to the case..

As the vocal rise of white supremacy continues to dominate headlines, one black Denver man decided the best way to learn about where they were getting their facts from, was to go undercover and join their group.

 Theo Wilson, a YouTuber, noticed that “trolls” on his page all spoke about the same misleading facts so in 2015 started the ghost profile “Lucious25” and for eight months became a racist troll online, to see exactly where they were getting their information from.

The flooding in Texas could cause gas prices to hike across North America. Dan McTeague a senior petroleum analyst at GasBuddy has predicted a “steep price hike” - Calgary, Edmonton, Regina, Saskatoon and Winnipeg. Rev. Robert Wright Lee introduced Susan Bro, the mother of anti-racism protester Heather Heyer at the MTV Music Video Awards.

Two feet of rain, two thousand people rescued, and five thousand more in shelters....in the Houston area alone. Jackson Proskow joins us from Texas with an update on the damage and continuing fallout from Tropical Storm Harvey.  

Harvey has wrecked havoc across Texas, with estimates of at least 1.3 meters of rain falling in some parts of Houston and its suburbs. That would be the highest rainfall ever recorded in Texas, with some areas already seeing as much as 76 centimeters.
