As first responders continue to work day and night answering calls for those stranded by Hurricane Harvey, one emergency physician with first hand experience responding to natural disasters is comparing this Hurricane, to the devastation we saw with Katrina.

Steve Perez has died after he was caught in floodwaters while driving to report for duty Sunday during Hurricane Harvey. “A reckless violation” of Japan’s sovereignty.  That’s how Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freeland described North Korea’s latest missile test, that saw the country fire a long-range missile over Japan and into the northern Pacific Ocean yesterday. A new survey has come out regarding last week’s story about Sir John A MacDonald’s name on schools, and it seems the PM agrees with the majority.

 As we get closer to the start of the school year, many parents who live close to their children's’ school are either having the conversation, or debate about letting their children walk to school by themself. BC Children’s Hospital teamed up with the University of British Columbia to encourage parents to let their kids take a risk - whether it be walking to school, or just exploring their neighbourhood on their own.
