Charile Ellis is a bladesmith out of South Carolina who make beautiful knives. Creative with a fascination for armor and fantasy, his parents supported his education by getting him to the New England School of Metalwork as a teenager. His education continued and at a young age he was exposed to ABS instructors and other prominent bladesmiths. Japanese style friction folders became one of his calling cards due to the economy of material and his love of mechanics. This gave way to him making his version of Douk-Douk styled knives. I know what you’re saying “What’s a Douk-Douk”? We go into the crazy origin story of how this simple slip joint folder was conceived and how it was marketed and made today.
