● Yeihu sends scrolls to everyone taking care of Achav’s 70 sons in Shomron and tells them to fight for the one whom they deem worthy to be king.
● They fearfully respond that they have nobody to place as king and he asks them to prove their allegiance by bringing him the 70 heads of Achav’s descendants.
● They bring forth the 70 heads and Yeihu sets them up in two piles and announces that they are righteous for having done what they did as they had fulfilled the nevuah of Eliyahu.
● He then kills all of Achav’s descendants in Yizr’el as well and when relatives of Achaziah come in from Yehudah to visit the king, queen, and their kid, he has them killed as well.
● Yeihu meets up with Yehonadav ben Reichav and when they confirm that they are on the same page, they ride together and Yeihu kills the rest of Achav’s family members in Shomron.
● Yeihu commands every Baal worshiper to attend his Baal service but when he gets everyone there, he kicks out anyone who isn’t a Baal worshiper. He gives everyone special clothing and conducts the service. After the service, he has his guards lock the doors and kill everyone in the temple of Baal. His men then destroy all the idols and the temple of Baal.
● Although he leaves the Eglei Zahav (golden calves) of Yaravam, Yeihu eliminates all the Baal in Yisrael so Hashem awards him four generations of malchus. Because he doesn’t follow the Torah to remove the Eglei Zahav, Hazael is able to strike them.
● After ruling for 28 years, Yeihu dies and is succeeded by his son Yehoachaz.

Elisha sends one of his disciples (Yonah) to anoint Yeihu ben Yehoshaphat ben Nimshi as Melech Yisrael.
The navi anoints him, tells him that he is to be the shliach of Hashem’s word to completely kill out the house of Achav and Izevel, and flees.
When questioned by his comrades regarding what the navi said, Yeihu tries to dismiss the navi’s words as lunacy but when they press him, he tells them and they accept him as their leader.
Yeihu goes to Yehoram who is healing from his battle wounds and being visited by Achaziah, while the army is fighting against Hazael and Aram.
Yehoram sends two horsemen to ask if Yeihu comes in peace but each one doesn’t return so Yehoram and Achaziah go to greet Yeihu themselves.
When they ask if he comes in peace, Yeihu mentions his mother’s “adultery” and sorcery before shooting an arrow through Yehoram’s heart.
Achaziah flees but Yeihu’s men ultimately catch and kill him.
Yeihu then goes to Izevel and she compares him to Zimri the murderer who usurped the throne (of Eilah ben Basha).
Yeihu commands her guards to push her out of the window and they do and he then tramples her body with his horse.
Yeihu and his men go in to eat and he instructs them to bury her body, but her body is eaten by dogs leaving nothing left but her skull, feet, and palms.
He attributes this to the word of Eliyahu.

● The Shunamis had avoided the famine at Elisha’s instruction and seven years later, after the famine has ended, she returns to reclaim her property but it’s occupied so she takes her case to the king.
● When she arrives, she walks into Geichazi telling the king the story about Elisha reviving her son and he points her out to the king.
● She confirms the story and Yehoram returns the land and all its produce to her.
● Ben-Hadad is ill and sends Hazael to greet Elisha, who had just arrived in Damesek, give him a tribute, and ask if he will recover.
● Elisha tells Hazael to tell Ben-Hadad that he will recover but that Hashem had shown him that he would die.
● Elisha turns his face and cries and when Hazael asks why, he responds because of the terrible things that Hazael would do to the Jews.
● When Hazael responds that he has no such power, Elisha responds that he will be king. Hazael assassinates Ben-Hadad and becomes Melech Aram.
● The Navi records that in Yehoram ben Achav’s fifth year, Yehoram ben Yehoshaphat became king and reigned for 8 years, and like the Malchei Yisrael, he was evil.
● During Yehoram ben Yehoshaphat’s reign, Edom rebels and appoints a king over itself.
● Yehoram is ultimately succeeded by his son Achaziah, who is also evil and only rules for one year.
● Achaziah and Yehoram go to battle against Hazael and Yehoram returns with an injury. Achaziah goes to visit Yehoram.

● Elisha says that by the next day, the price of wheat and barley will go down tremendously and when Yehoram’s attendant expresses his disbelief, Elisha tells him he will see it but not benefit from it.
● Four Metzoraim ("lepers") outside the camp realize that they will starve to death and that their only potential chance of survival is approaching the Aramean camp and hoping they’ll have mercy.
● When they arrive, they realize that the camp has been abandoned and the Navi tells us that Hashem scared them off with the sounds of enemy armies.
● They go around eating, drinking, and looting the camp until they realize that the right thing to do is inform Yehoram. They do just that and Yehoram responds that he believes it’s a trap by Aram. One of his servants suggests sending a few people to check so Yehoram does and they report that it’s not a trap.
● The nation plunders the camp and tramples the skeptical attendant from earlier to death, just as Elisha said would happen.

The Bnei HaNeviim ask Elisha if they can make more room for themselves by building a place near the Yardein and they ask Elisha to come with them so he does.
During the building, an axe-head falls into the water and Elisha miraculously gets it out by throwing a similar piece of wood in.
The king of Aram keeps planning to ambush Yehoram but Elisha saves him by constantly revealing the secrets.
Melech Aram accuses his subjects of foiling the plans but when they tell him that Elisha is the one who is revealing the secrets to Yehoram, he sends his men to Dosan to capture Elisha.
Elisha’s attendant notices that Aram has surrounded the city but Elisha tells him that Aram is outnumbered and he shows him that there were horses and chariots of fire surrounding them.
Aram attacks but Elisha davens and they are stricken with blindness.
Elisha then guides them to Shomron and Hashem opens their eyes.
Yehoram asks Elisha if he should strike but Elisha tells him that he should rather give them food, drink, and send them off, which he does.
The Navi tells us that the bands of Arameans stop coming into the land but then records that Ben-Hadad Melech Aram lays siege to Shomron causing causing a horrible famine.
Upon hearing the desperation of the nation, Yehoram tears his clothing and threatens to take off Elisha’s head.
He sends messengers to Elisha and follows after them and Elisha tells the elders around him to keep the door closed because the king’s messengers are coming and the king is surely behind them.
He then acknowledges that everything was from Hashem and laments that there is no hope.

● Naaman, an Arami commander, has tzaraas and, at the advice of a female captive of Israel and instruction of Melech Aram, he sends a message to Yehoram, really meant for Elisha, requesting to be healed.
● Yehoram tears his clothing in mourning over what seemed to be a pretext but Elisha says to send Naaman to him.
● Naaman arrives with his entourage but instead of being greeted by Elisha, Elisha sends a messenger to tell him to bathe in the Yardein seven times.
● This infuriates Naaman but his servants insist that he might as well try so he consents and is healed.
● Naaman humbly goes before Elisha and offers him a tribute but Elisha refuses.
● Naaman asks for earth from Israel so that he can build a mizbeiach back home for Hashem and swears off idolatry, asking only that Elisha pray that he should be forgiven for what looks like bowing when he assists the king in his bowing.
● Elisha sends Naaman off but Geichazi chases after him and says that Elisha asked for silver and clothing for two Bnei HaNeviim who had just arrived.
● Naaman graciously gives it to him and he hides it in his house.
● Elisha asks Geichazi where he was but he denies having been anywhere.
● Elisha tells him that he knows what he did and curses him and his children to have tzaraas forever and Geichazi is afflicted with tzaraas as soon as he leaves Elisha.

● A prophet’s widow asks Elisha for help because a creditor threatened to take her sons as slaves if she won’t pay her debt.
Elisha asks what she has and she says only a jar of oil. He tells her to borrow vessels from her friends and he tells her to fill all the vessels from that jar of oil and she is miraculously able to. She comes to him and he tells her to sell all the oil to pay her debt and she and her sons should live off of the remainder.
● Elisha travels around and a Shunamis woman and her husband build an apartment in their attic for him to stay whenever he is around. Eventually, he blesses them with a son and one day, her son’s head hurts and he dies.
The Shunamis runs to Elisha and tells Elisha that she begged him not to give her a son who would die young so Elisha sends his attendant Geichazi to resuscitate the boy. Geichazi is unsuccessful so Elisha goes to the boy personally and brings him back to life.
● There is famine and the Bnei HaNeviim in Gilgal are starving so Elisha has someone make them a stew. The stew “has death in it” so Elisha throws flour in making it edible.
● A man from Baal Shalishah gives Elisha 20 loaves of bread and some kernels and Elisha miraculously makes it enough to feed (at least) 100 prophets and there were leftovers.

Yehoram ben Achav is Melech Yisrael and while he isn’t as evil as Achav, as he removed the Baal, he still does the aveiros of Yaravam and causes Israel to sin.
Mesha Melech Moav stops paying tribute to Yehoram so Yehoram goes to attack and Yehoshaphat Melech Yehudah and Melech Edom join him.
They end up in a desert with their armies but have no water so Yehoshaphat asks if there is a navi around.
Elisha is found among them and tells Yehoram to turn to his false prophets and that he wouldn’t even look at him if not for Yehoshaphat being there.
He then asks for a musician and ultimately has a nevuah and tells them that Hashem will make it rain and make them victorious over Moav but they are to completely decimate the city.
Moav hears that the three kings are coming but when they look out and see the sun rising over the new pools of water, they mistake it for blood and assume the three kings battled with each other.
They casually go down to collect the spoils but are attacked by the three armies by surprise and they decimate the city, breaking down the walls, destroying the trees, etc.
In desperation, Mesha tries to attack Melech Edom but is unable so he sacrifices his firstborn prince.
This creates a great wrath against Israel so Israel returns to its land.
