● Yeshayahu entertains the thought of Hashem finally revealing Himself and the reaction of Klal Yisrael, their enemies, and the landscape.
● Yeshayahu prophetically confesses that the nation (and he includes himself) has sinned so Hashem took away the tzadikim on whom the nation relied for spiritual protection and because of their sins the cities of Yehudah and Yerushalayim have become desolate and the Beis HaMikdash went up in flames.
● He begs our Father and the Potter in Whose hands we are clay not to be so angry.
● He then asks if Hashem will still remain silent and let them suffer so much.

● Yeshayahu relates a prophecy of a conversation between the One Who conquers Edom and an onlooker in which the Conqueror declares that He has single-handedly trampled Edom like wine in a press.
● Yeshayahu praises Hashem for His redemption of Klal Yisrael which results from the fact that He is in pain when they are due to His great love and compassion for them.
● However, he says, they rebel and pain the Ruach HaKodesh and then wonder what happened to the Ruach HaKodesh which saved them from the sea in the days of Moshe, led them through the desert, etc.
● Yeshayahu continues to ask Hashem on the behalf of Klal Yisrael to not be like "Avraham" and "Yisrael" who may not recognize them, because He is our Father and Eternal Redeemer and rather He should not let us stray any longer and return us to our heritage.
● He says that if He would tear open the heavens and descend, the mountains would melt before Him...

Yeshayahu continues his nevuah saying that Hashem says He will not be still until the nations will perceive the righteousness of Klal Yisrael.
He says that Klal Yisrael will be called “Cheftzi Bah” instead of “Azuvah” and Eretz Yisrael will be called “Beulah” instead of “Shmamah” and that Hashem will rejoice over Klal Yisrael like a chasan over a kallah.
He says He appointed watchmen over the city all day and night and that they shouldn’t be silent until He makes Yisrael a source of praise, fulfilling His swear.
Yeshayahu tells the nation to clear the way for the Savior has come and has His reward with Him.

● Yeshayahu says he was given the ruach Hashem to deliver messages of hope to the humbled and broken-hearted, saying that their ashes and mourning will be replaced with glory and joy and that the nations will work their fields and vineyards etc. while they will be considered kohanei Hashem.
● The wealth of the nations will support Klal Yisrael and eternal gladness will be theirs.
● He says that Hashem loves justice and hates stolen korbanos and the whole world will recognize the covenant He has with Klal Yisrael.
● He then says that he will rejoice with Hashem because will have clothed him with honor and salvation and He will cause righteousness to sprout like plants.

● Yeshayahu prophesies that Hashem’s light will shine upon Klal Yisrael and all the nations will flock to them to walk in their light and will bring great wealth, many animals, etc. as tributes.
● He says that they and their kings will submit themselves to Klal Yisrael and the Beis HaMikdash will be rebuilt.
● He speaks of a time when there will be no more violence and the light will not be from the sun and moon but rather from Hashem Himself.
● He closes the perek stating that all of Klal Yisrael will be righteous, the smallest will increase tremendously, and that He will “hasten this occurence in its time.”
I want to share a gem of source on today's Perek, the origin of a famous, beautiful song about the coming of Moshiach.

At the time that the the King Moshiach comes, he stands on the roof of the Beis HaMikdash, makes himself heard to all of Yisrael and says:
"Humble ones, humble ones, the time of your redemption has arrived, and if you do not believe, look at my light that is shining."

Yeshayahu explains that Hashem is surely not incapable of saving nor hard of hearing but rather their aveiros have caused Him to ignore them since they have blood-stained hands, pervert justice, and speak vanity.
He compares their actions to hatching adder eggs and weaving spiderwebs.
He condemns their feet which run to do evil, their spilling of innocent blood, and their inability to acquire peace.
Yeshayahu says speaking for Klal Yisrael (whether including himself in their sins or not) that as much as they desire light, they stumble and grope in darkness even at noon and they “wail like bears and groan like doves.”
They admit that their aveiros are what pushed Hashem away including but not limited to defying and denying Hashem, oppressing the weak, perverting justice, spreading falsehood, and making truth and refraining from sin unpopular.
Yeshayahu says that Hashem was astounded with the lack of justice and people stepping up and therefore His arm wrought salvation and He donned clothing of righteousness, vengeance, zealotry, etc.
He will pay back His/its oppressors as He had done previously and the entire world will fear His Name.
Hashem promises that a goel will come to Tzion to redeem all the Jews who do teshuvah and He guarantees that His word will not be removed from their mouths nor from the mouths of their children and grandchildren forever.

● Hashem tells Yeshayahu to raise his voice and cry like a shofar without holding back in order to tell the people their sins.
● He says that people who act righteous and seek Him out every day wonder why they fast and afflict themselves when He seems not to notice.
● He responds that it’s because they use their fast days as opportunities to collect debts and strike each other instead of to make their voices heard to Him.
● They merely afflict themselves, bow, and don sackcloth and assume it’s a favorably fast before G-d but they don’t break the shackles of evil and put an end to the perversion of justice and oppression against the weak.
● If they would only provide food for the hungry, clothing for the naked, etc., Hashem would speedily hear their prayers and gather the nation together.
● They would have health and prosperity and ruins would be rebuilt in their honor.
● It will be that if they delight in and honor the Shabbos, holding back from doing their own activities and speaking about such things, they will be able to delight in Hashem, be elevated, and be given the heritage of Yaakov.

● Yeshayahu continues his rebuke saying that the people don’t realize that tzadikim and baalei chessed are dying because of the impending evil which will come.
● He asks the children of witchcraft and seed of adulterers what they could possibly take delight in and mock when they are so steeped in sin, worshiping every tree and slaughtering children (as idolatrous sacrifices).
They placed their “beds” on high mountains and offered sacrifices there and they placed their “zichron” behind the door, removed themselves from Him, widened their beds to accommodate all the covenants with others, and even loved making room for more to “love.”
● Yeshayahu rebukes them for all their tributes to kings and their perseverence in mundane and futile pursuits rather than serving Hashem.
● However, Hashem says, one who has faith in Him will inherit His holy mountain.
He continues that a path should be cleared for His people for the Ram V’Nisa Shochein Ad V’Kadosh Shemo, as exalted as He is, lowers Himself to revive the lowly and despondent.
● He says that He was angry because of the sins but He won’t be eternally wrathful and when He sees “his ways,” He will heal him. He promises “peace, peace for the far and near” but that there will be no peace for the wicked.

Yeshayahu says that Klal Yisrael should guard mishpat and do tzedakah for the salvation is near and praiseworthy is the one who is not mechaleil Shabbos and doesn’t do bad.
He tells the convert not to say that Hashem has separated him and the barren not to say he is shriveled for He promises the latter eternal honor and renown and the former that they will be brought to His holy mountain where they will be gladdened in His house of prayer, in response to their keeping of Shabbos and the strengthening in His covenant.
Yeshayahu then rebukes the nation for its “blind watchmen” who are “dogs that can’t bark,” and are lazy, greedy, and insatiable.
He says the “shepherds” are unable to understand and are greedy, dishonest, and gluttonous.

● Yeshayahu says in the name of Hashem that those who are “thirsty” should go to water and buy wine and milk without money.
● He tells them to listen to His words and be rejuvenated for He will make an eternal covenant with them.
● He tells them to seek Him out where He can be found and do teshuvah, despite it being a hard concept to imagine, since His thoughts are unlike theirs and He is abundantly forgiving.
● He explains that just as His rain and snow descend effectively and accomplish their purpose, so will His words be fulfilled.
● There will indeed be an exodus in gladness accompanied by rejoicing mountains, clapping trees, and replacement of bad plants with good plants which will serve as a monument for Him.
