● Yeshayahu tells the “barren woman” to break out into glad song and widen her boundaries for her offspring will burst forth and spread out right and left.
He tells her that she will no longer be ashamed of her barrenness and widowhood for her Master/Husband is the Maker and the Redeemer.
● He says that Hashem only hid Himself momentarily in slight wrath but will reveal Himself in abundant mercy.
He says in the name of Hashem that just as He swore after the “Mei Noach” not to bring another deluge, so would He not again be wrathful with Klal Yisrael, as His kindness wouldn’t be removed and His bris shalom wouldn’t falter.
● He promises that her boundary will be full of precious stones and her children will be students of Hashem and have abundant peace.
● He says that she should prepare herself for being treated nicely and distance herself from [expecting] oppression. He says that although enemies may gather against her, it is without His consent so nobody will be able to harm her or even say anything against her.

In the previous perek, Yeshayahu says Klal Yisrael will see and hear new things never-before seen or heard and in today's perek he says the multitudes will rhetorically ask in astonishment of the redemption who would have believed that Hashem would have revealed His strength for “him” (Yisrael), a “man” who had been despised, isolated, and filled with pain and illness.
They will say that though they had assumed he had been stricken and afflicted by G-d, the truth is he was bearing their sickness and suffered for their sins and they were healed because of him.
They admit to having strayed like sheep while he was quietly led to the slaughter.
“He” submitted himself to the death of sinners though he had committed no crime and spoken no deceit.
Hashem will have oppressed him but if his soul would acknowledged his guilt, he would see offspring, live longer, and be satisfied with his influence which will make the multitudes righteous.
Therefore, says Hashem, he will have a portion among the multitudes since he gave himself over to death to be counted among the wicked, bore the sins of the masses, and prayed for the wicked.

● Yeshayahu tells Tzion to awaken, don its garments of splendor, and brush off the dust because Hashem will redeem them.
● He quotes Hashem as recalling the “baseless” oppression of Egypt and Assyria and lamenting His blasphemed name and He says that He will make Himself known.
● Yeshayahu notes how pleasant it will be when the heralds of peace announce the good news about the awareness of Hashem’s dominion and he describes the sheer joy of all the lookouts and the singing in unison about the redemption of Klal Yisrael and the revelation of Hashem’s “holy arm.”
● He tells the “Nos’ei Klei Hashem - bearers of Hashem’s vessels” to turn away from the impurity and leave from it, saying that Hashem will take them out and protect them.
● Hashem says that His servant will succeed and the multitudes will be astonished with his elevation as they were with his degradation.
● They will see and hear new things never-before seen or heard.

● Yeshayahu says that the seekers of G-d should look towards their righteous ancestors, Avraham and Sarah, who were blessed and increased as Hashem will console Tzion and make its ruins like Gan Eden.
● He then says (in the name of Hashem) to pay attention to Him because His Torah and judgements are an “Or Amim” and His salvation is near and will be eternal.
● He then tells the righteous who bear the Torah in their hearts that they shouldn’t fear the wicked for they will be destroyed like a moth eating clothing.
● Yeshayahu then says (seemingly in the name of Klal Yisrael) to “awaken” and shows His strength since He was the One Who decimated the haughty, terrified the serpent, and dried up the sea.
● He then says that those redeemed by Hashem will enter Tzion with glad song.
● Hashem notes that the continuous fear of Klal Yisrael is an indicator that they had forgotten Him and His power so He reminds them of His power and says that He will redeem them.
● Yeshayahu tells Yerushalayim to awaken from its drunk and afflicted state after having “drunk cups of wrath and bewilderment” and suffering at the hands of “two calamities” for Hashem is ready to fight for His people and will pour out His wrath on the tormentors who made Klal Yisrael lie down on the ground and trampled on them.

Yeshayahu quotes Hashem noting that Klal Yisrael isn’t reaching out to Him and answering His calls so He rhetorically asks if He had sent a bill of divorce to Yisrael or if He had sold Yisrael to a creditor that He couldn’t pay.
He then asks that perhaps they imagine that He is incapable of redeeming them, a notion He quickly dismisses as impossible.
Yeshayahu then states that Hashem blessed him with eloquence and a knowledge of the times so that he can articulate Hashem’s messages to those who are willing to listen.
He speaks about how Hashem speaks to him and even makes Himself understood to him.
He adds that he accepted the mission of delivering the word of Hashem despite the physical and verbal abuse he would receive because he knows that Hashem will vindicate him and he will therefore not be ashamed.
He says that anyone who contends with him will be worn out like clothing and eaten by mouths.
He then says to those who fear G-d and listen to His servant that they should trust in and rely upon Hashem but those “igniters of fires” should go into the flames they started as they will die in sorrow.

● Yeshayahu states that he was designated to be Hashem’s servant from birth and did all that he was told but basically toiled in vain since Klal Yisrael didn’t and wouldn’t accept his musar, yet he notes that he will be rewarded for his efforts.
● Hashem responds to Yeshayahu that he is not just his messenger to lift up the Shivtei Yaakov but rather he is an “or goyim.”
● Yeshayahu prophesies that Hashem says that the one who is despised yet faithful will be honored by kings.
● Yeshayahu then prophesies again, this time about the miraculous return of Yisrael to Tzion and the resultant rejoicing of heaven and earth.
● He quotes Tzion as saying that Hashem has forgotten it and how Hashem denies the claim asking if a mother could forget her child.
● He desribes how Yerushalayim will be rebuilt and resettled and how, astonishingly, captives of war will be returned from their captivity while the tormentors will be forced to eat their own flesh, which will make it quite clear that Hashem is our Savior and Redeemer.

● Yeshayahu calls out in Hashem’s name to the Jews who swear by and mentions Hashem’s name but “not truthfully” and says that he has foretold many events in the name of Hashem which they *saw* take place so they shouldn’t claim that their deities brought anything about.
● He says regarding *future* events which he will foretell in the name of Hashem, they shouldn’t claim that they already know them as they surely have no clue and are just stubborn and arrogant with their empty comments.
● He says that He is well aware of their rebelliousness yet He holds back His wrath for the sake of His name and glory and doesn’t completely destroy them and rather refines them in a crucible of hardship.
● He states that He is the First and Last, the One Who set the foundation of the world, and the One Who makes people’s paths successful.
● Yeshayahu then states that he was always very public when prophesying in Hashem’s name and he then continues his prophecy saying that Hashem says that He gives insruction to Klal Yisrael for their own benefit and obedience to the mitzvos would result in outpour of peace and blessing.
● Yeshayahu says that there will be glad song coming from Bavel and Kasdim and the sound of Hashem redeeming His nation, while Hashem states that there will be no peace for the wicked.

Yeshayahu declares in Hashem’s name that the delicate, dainty, “untouched virgin” Bavel bas Kasdim will no longer be considered so because when He delivered His sinful and degraded nation in her hands, Bavel showed no compassion and assumed that she would be forever untouchable.
Therefore, says Hashem, He will bring simultaneous bereavement and widowhood upon Bavel, which they never would have expected, because of its faith in its evil witchcraft and wisdom.
He says that He will bring disaster to them and sarcastically suggests that they should try their witchcraft to see if it will help save them.
He says that their advisors, astrologers, stargazers, etc. will not be able to do a thing to save Bavel.

● Hashem “tells” His anointed one, Koresh, that well before his existence, he was designated to subdue enemy nations and to acquire many treasures, for the purpose of making Himself known to him and for the benefit of Yaakov and Yisrael.
● He declares that He is Hashem and there is no other and that He alone creates light, darkness, peace, evil, and rain.

● Hashem says that Egyptians, Cushim, and Sevaim will come in chains and subjugate themselves to Klal Yisrael and will pray before them saying that Hashem is only with them and that there is no other G-d. They will admit that Hashem had been hidden and the fashioners of idols will be ashamed, but the Bnei Yisrael who found salvation in Hashem will not be ashamed.
● He says that He didn’t create the world for nothing but rather to be inhabited and He didn’t declare His existence and purpose in secrecy but rather made Himself clear when speaking to the offspring of Yaakov.
● He tells everyone to gather from the ends of the earth and turn to Him and proclaim Him G-d for there is no other.
● Yeshayahu speaks on his own and says that only with Hashem is their righteousness and strength and that those who anger Him will be ashamed and Yisrael will be vindicated and praised through Him.
