Anna de Codorniu Cava Brut Rosé-$9 Pinot Noir (70%) and Chardonay (30%) Cava

This is a Cava made with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, just like Champagne.

Those are not the grapes used in traditional Cava.

This is from a family who started growing grapes in the 1400s and started a winery in the 1500s.

They also produced the first Cava in the 1870s.

That is a great pedigree for a 9-buck Cava.

Trader Joe's Petit Reserve Maule Valley Carmenere 2021-$8 And Really Good

This is a limited edition Trader Joe's wine from Chile.

Carmenerein Chile has an interesting story (sorry, you have to listen to the Podcast).

In the 1800s it was an integral part of the Bordeaux, and phylloxera hit.

It somehow made its way to Chile and it started a new story.

The Piper Sonoma Brut has been in Sonoma for 43 years, it is the California outpost of Piper Heidsieck.

I found it for $17 while it does list for $22.

Which is half of what the French version sells for,

Kirkland Signature Gigondas 2021-Cru Wine For $13.99!

Gigondas is one of the 8 Southern Rhone Valley (France) Cru Regions.

It is second to Chateauneuf du Pope in importance and it is a region that makes wines that sell for hundreds of dollars.

The winemaker is a third-generation from Chateauneuf du Pope who has an excellent resume.

This wine tastes great and is a major bargain!

I have never heard of a" by Trader Joe's" wine, in the past they were all Platinum or Diamond Reserve wines.

So what is the deal here is this a new wine program by Trader Joe's or a one-off?

Peirano Estate Illusion Red Blend 2021-The Bang For The Buck Is no Illusion

This is an Old Vine Zinfandel-based Red Blend from a family-owned Lodi AVA winery that has been growing grapes since the 1880s.

The blend has zinfandel, merlot, petite sirah, and cabernet sauvignon.
