Today we profile forward Alexei Zhamnov. Zhamnov came to Chicago in a trade that sent fan favorite Jeremy Roenick to Phoenix August of 1996. Zhamnov would go on and play 8 seasons with the Blackhawks tallying 469 points in 528 games. Zhamnov served as  captain of the Blackhawks from  2002 to 2004 and was an all star during the 2001-2002 season.

Drafted in 1984, Trent Yawney suited up for the Blackhawks from 1987 to 1991. That included 41 playoff games for the defenseman. After his playing days, Yawney joined the Hawks as an assistant and later as head coach during a rebuild from 2005 into 2007. Yawney has had coaching stops in San Jose, Anaheim and Los Angeles, while currently serving on Detroit’s coaching staff.

Ronald Patrick Maki, more commonly known as “Chico,” spent all 15 years of his NHL career with the Blackhawks. Maki was a small part of the 1961 Stanley Cup winning team. He dressed for games 1 and 2, but didn’t play, still the Hawks included his name on the Cup. Maki played played in 841 career NHL games, scoring 143 goals. He and younger brother Wayne played together with the Hawks during the 1967-68 season.

Rocky Wirtz took over the Blackhawks after his father, Bill, died in 2007 and immediately began making changes, hiring John McDonough as team president, putting home games on TV with Pat Foley back as the TV voice, and legends like Hull and Mikita were brough back as ambassadors. Two years later, the Blackhawks hoisted the Stanley Cup for the first time since 1961, and they would win it twice more over the next five years.
