The Supreme knowledge rises with reflection, vicara, on the Vedantic truths, finally resulting in the end of bondage and the sorrows of samsara.

  • 023 - Vivekachoodamani - Verses 37 to 39 - Realised Masters are like spring, moon, nectar
    Talk 23 : Verse 37-39
Having surrendered completely, the fearful student takes refuge of the teacher, imploring him to lift him from the ocean of samsara. Shankaracharya ji gives the qualities of a Guru as Shanta and Mahanta and explains further with 2 analogies. First, the teacher is compared to the season of spring when nature blooms and blossoms, spreading joy
everywhere. In the second analogy, the soothing presence of the teacher is compared to the cooling rays of the moon on the scorched Earth. To find such a teacher is a very rare blessing and this talk explains it in detail.
