This talk discusses the nature of vairagya which is born out of viveka and the firm determination that Brahman alone is the Absolute Truth. This dispassion arises in a mind that is unaffected by raaga or dvesha. It explains the methods of developing vairagya through satsang, pratipaksha bhavna, dedication of one’s duty to Bhagwan and tapas. Once one is established in vairagya, there is freedom and fearlessness and hence tremendous joy.

External qualifications include intelligence, retentiveness, a degree of worldliness and the ability to see a standpoint with objectivity. Internal qualifications include the four levels of sadhanas- bahiranga, antaranga, param antaranga and saakshaat and these are discussed in detail.
