Almost 400 bills in 48 states have been introduced this year proposing voting restrictions ahead of the 2022 elections. Seventeen states have enacted laws that tighten restrictions around casting ballots and running elections. Democratic legislators in Texas have literally left the state to stop that legislature from enacting voting rights restrictions. Why is this happening and what does it mean for democracy?
