Darwin talked about survival of the fittest in the 1800's, rocking the world with his theory of evolution. What are we witnessing today? Is humanity evolving? Certainly our technology is, but the real question is, are we? Are we as a species called Homo sapiens truly evolving or are all the trappings of modern society causing us to de-evolve?

What happens when you are in a situation where there seems to be 2 possibilities, but neither looks favorable? Dr. Stephen Covey would teach, "There has to be a 3rd alternative." Dr. Rubin explains how chiropractic was the 3rd alternative in one of his favorite cases (permission granted to use this case), and how you can use the 3rd alternative in your lives.

"Hard easy." You have a lofty goal, based on your mission and vision, and create an action plan to achieve it. This requires a lot of up front work, but in the end, your efforts pay off.

"Easy hard." You have no aim in life, no goals, action plans, and just kind of do whatever comes your way. This is way easier up front, but later on, it is much more challenging since you are more likely to be unprepared. Which path do you choose?

Movement is everything. Even BJ Palmer wrote about it in the 1950's. Yet how different life is now, 70 years later. We spend most of our lives sitting...sitting at work, while driving in cars, while watching Netflix or playing games on our phones. Has our modern way of living created a version of the zombie apocalypse that we read about in World War Z or watch on The Walking Dead? It's just a different way of killing off our brain cells.

Dentistry in the mid 1900's was a second rate health field. They created a strategic plan to change their image and in 50 years proved their plan was a rousing success. Modern dentistry is an incredible field with multiple specializations and incredible market growth in every sector.

What is salutogenesis? In a phrase: you can always improve your health and wellness. In a recent magazine article, the writer was surprised by some of the benefits people were reporting under chiropractic care, stating that chiropractors treated various illnesses and ailments. What the writer doesn't know is that chiropractors don't 'treat' injuries, sicknesses, or problems. We take care of people! We are in the people business, leading them towards wellness, then keeping them that way!

There is no better feeling than to see children in my office having a great time, laughing, giggling, and being surprised that they can have fun in a 'doctors office.' Our annual Halloween Bash is such a day for us, where we go all out for the kids and they just have the greatest time. I purposely step back during this party and capture moments of the commotion, the happiness, the feeling of joy in chiropractic!
