Dad, 😌 I hope you don't mind If I share our story

My name is Tiago Rendas I am 15 years old and I'm the Son of Emanuel Rendasand Betsy Oliveira Rendas!

Today, I've decided to join this group because I have seen my father a different person!! I really do!! Motivated, learning and taking a lot of action with something he is learning from this group!! 😳

I have a dream too; I want to be a Basketball player!! I am so shy, but I really want to share my dream!! 😭

Back in 2014, we decided to immigrate to the USA! We had a friend that promised us the green card and shelter until we get our things altogether!

Little did we know what was about to happen!!

It was a big dream!! It was the craziest thing my parents did! But I saw them full of determination and a not giving up attitude!

This friend of ours began to act weird and we began to realize something was wrong...Breaking promises after promises!

But my parents had everything ready and they decided to go anyway regardless. They ended up spending all money on hotels and motels waiting on their friends!! money was getting short and all we got as an answer was; wait one more week, please..

Without money we all ended up sleeping at the airport for 4 weeks, my parents, me and my two siblings!!

it was moments of desperation! All money was gone, our relatives were waiting for us to fall to sing the song of victory! We had no one!!

Social security tried to take us from our parents, we had to run away and hide! Meanwhile, my dad found someone to shelter us and left in search of our dream!

He always shared with us the Story of Joseph from the Bible! To never give up, to always remember that the Darkest moments of Joseph were God's ways to shape him into the person He needed to become!

I remember him saying " Do not give up, we can't see it with our eyes, but we can envisioning with hearts" Daddy made a mistake of deciding to trust our friend, but, Once we are in this path we won't Stop now"

He left for Atlanta, Georgia trying to find his friend... He spent 6 months fighting for us!! Slept under the bridge near the Big Chicken, and then found an abandoned House to at least have a better place to sleep!!

My dad made connections, found a job, hired a lawyer to help us! Has His friend betrayed him and He decided to no longer count on him!

Finally, he rented a House, Bought a car, And were able to buy all the tickets for us!

I remember being in the plane crying like a baby!! We finally were about to be all together and live in the US!

After a few months, we moved to Florida, Boca Raton! And there were the best moments of our lives!! I was the happiest kid on the planet!

When I went to American Airlines Arena to Watch Knicks/Miami, a dream was born, to become a Basketball player!

I was practicing and playing day after day, after day!!! I was sooo happy to be in Florida! We have lost so much, fought so much, risked so much to be at the place we were!! It was a taste of victory, fulfillment, and happiness!

Things did not happen as we expected but we did it! But, my parents were desperately fighting for our documentation!

Back in September 2018 one day after my dad's birthday immigration came to our house to take my dad!!! My world stopped!!!

This was the most painful thing that ever happened to me! When I arrived in Portugal, I wanted to end up my life! My family was devastated my dream was gone!!!

We did not know what was happening!! After a month of struggling, fighting to stay, we had to leave USA, back to Europe!! in 1 day we lost everything!! We lost our house, we lost our car, we everything in the house,

It was so painful having to leave USA, I lost happiness; I lost my dream! We love the USA so much!

My dad told me to never give up and we would be back! that we will keep fighting but doing things in a different way!

I tried to commit suicide when I was in Portugal.. it was to painful. I was looking at the window and had the thought to jump.

Thank God It was justa thought of the moment

After almost 2 years we have hope soon we will be back... ( I do not understand the laws, but my dad said, the possibilities are really good and this time going already with the green card..

Please, if you are an American, do not complain about your country, what many times we take for granted, others desire badly to have it!

We as a family loves the USA, it's engraved in our DNA and we love American People

And I want to be a professional player and bring Joy, happiness hope to those who are fighting for their dreams

Tell them, If I made it, so they Can make it too! My heart right now is in pain, it's so emotional, I love the US, I love basketball and I trust God

Players like Giannis Antetonkoumpo, Joel Embiid, Pascal Siakam, Ibaka, Lebron James,(my favorite) Inspire me so much!

These last two weeks at home gave me new hope because of my dad's attitude of rising Up and having a new Hope and a New Perspective!!"
