Chord Progression Podcast: The Gateway to New Rock and Metal Music

When you have a passion in life, going all in on it can be very scary. The fear causes so many people not to do it. The few that do stand out.

In a creative space, going all in means supporting your art, supporting the art of other's, and connecting with the consumer in a very personal way.

The Mike's (Michael & Mikey) from ENOX stop by the Chord Progression Podcast today. On this episode we talk about:

• Writing music with Ricky Armellino of Ice Nine Kills, and how Rickey featured on a song because of a Tinder date.
• Why ENOX went all in on their music, taking the risk to chase their dreams and support others doing the same.
• Using Taylor Swift as a case study behind what the biggest marketing tool and band or artist can have and use.

When you have a moment in life, where a shred of luck leads to good things, what do you do? Do you take it at face value and hope for the best? Or do you do everything necessary to make sure that shred of luck leads to long term success?

When a new rock band found luck and did everything to make it stick in 2023, it led them to become darlings on Sirius XM Octane, and open for Shinedown on tour... all while only having 2 songs released.

It is our pleasure to sit down with Cullen from the band Sleep Theory on the Chord Progression Podcast today. On this episode, you will learn:

• How Sleep Theory found a moment of success on Tik Tok earlier in the year, and how they made sure it led to the success of their first single Another Way.
• Why their mindset of being fans has led to the band making sure they stay connected with their fans online and during their live shows.
• That people called them industry plants because tastemakers in rock and metal are finally promoting a new band, and why calling them "industry plants" is far from the truth.

A powerful episode for every rock and metal fan & band to listen to. So to make sure you don't miss out on any future episodes and great bands, hit the subscribe button now!

Metal music today is in the early stages of a massive resurgence. Bands like Bring Me The Horizon, Bad Omens, Falling In Reverse, Electric Callboy, and more are trying many new things, and are bringing many new fans into the scene.

That is why now is the perfect time for new bands in metal to experiment & try new things. the time is now to capture something new when more and more fans are entering the scene.

• Why Devitalized wants to stay fluid and experiment with all genres, and how it connects with more and more fans entering the metal music scene.
• How their song Godslayer was written from the inspiration of Elden Ring, and how Tom Barber of Chelsea Grin appeared on the track.
• The concept of a new track that could bring in Egyptian mythology and traditional cultural sounds, and why more bands could be doing this in the future.

We are used to great metalcore coming out of countries like the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, and Australia. But what about France?

France may not be well known for their metal scene or metalcore music, but with bands like Gojira, Betraying the Martyrs, and Landmvrks showing great music coming out of the country, what bands are going to be next in creating a thriving scene in a new country?

Robin from the French metalcore band Resolve is back on the Chord Progression Podcast for the 3rd time as the band prepares to release their new album Human on September 15th, 2023. On this episode you will discover:

• How Resolve began to build up a concentrated following by connecting with fans and creating their own Discord server, which started only a few weeks ago.
• How a tour with While She Sleeps helped show how France is a growing market for metalcore, and what Resolve is doing to capitalize on that.
• The realities of trying to tour in the US, and the risk vs. reward every band has to weigh before traveling overseas for the first time.

When it comes to making sure your band stays in the subconscious of the music scene, it is a concept that many bands fail to capture.

But for the band or bands that do, they are able to create such an aura around them that helps them grow to heights beyond comprehension.

That is why we are incredibly pleased to have Lucas from Holding Absence on the podcast today. With the band releasing their new album The Noble Art of Self Destruction on August 25th, this is an episode not to miss where you will see:

• The lessons the band learned touring with Electric Callboy and the importance of staying in the subconscious of music fans they interact with.
• How the band created their 2022 split EP with Alpha Wolf, and why we might get more split EPs from the band in the future.
• What actually is a Holding Absence song, as Lucas and Kevin try and classify what that is, and why it is more unique than most.

How many times have we heard taste makers in culture say that "ROCK IS DEAD" over the past 15 years? Yet still here we are.

In those 15 years, it was the bands that going to keep the genre alive, and it was the fans that were the catalyst to not letting it die. And now those bands are speaking out about it.

Rick from Adelitas Way is our guest on the Chord Progression Podcast for an absolute ripper of an episode. In this episode, you will discover:

• The reason why rockstars from the past we focused on partying and going crazy, while today many are focused on health and longevity.
• How tastemakers and gatekeepers in the music scene tried to kill rock music for over 10 years, and how bands like Adelitas Way refused to let that happen, and how bands are now breaking through without help of tastemakers, and with support of the fans.
• Why seeing Adelitas Way on tour in 2023 is a must.
