The “Thin Blue Line” American flag has grown to become a symbol of far right groups. While the purest interpretation of the symbol is to show support for officers who put their lives on the line for their communities, the inception of the flag coincided with the development of Black Lives Matter. As such, some view it as a counter to the demand for recognition of people in marginalized groups. Far right elements such as the Proud Boys encourage the counter movement and adopt the flag as a means of displaying white supremacy. LA Police Chief Michael Moore is banning the flag on any uniforms, police cars or buildings. The reception is mixed to say the least.
