Holiday shopping is in full swing and some economists worry about spending not being as fervent as anticipated AND people maxing out their credit cards. Basically, economists are accountants without a sense of humor. A Chatsworth family shopping on Black Friday came home to find $200,000 worth of items stolen from their property. Black Friday and Cyber Monday are two of the biggest shopping days of the year for both consumers and businesses nationwide. However, another arguably lesser-known shopping holiday falls this weekend: Small Business Saturday. Founded in 2010 by American Express and officially sponsored by the United States Small Business Administration (SBA) in 2011, the Saturday after Thanksgiving – and the day immediately following Black Friday – has become an integral part of small business’ busiest season. Listen, Clark, maybe you have some Norman Rockwell perfect Christmas tradition in your mind but cutting your own Christmas tree is a waste of time and energy.
