Federal officials announced that 9-year-old fourth grader Martir Garcia Lara, a student at Torrance Elementary School, will be deported after he and his father, Martir Garcia-Banegas, 50, were detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) during an immigration hearing on May 29. The two were separated after expecting an update on their immigration status.
