The opening verses of 1st John ground our assurance of salvation in a Person, in historical facts, and in the One who is Himself eternal life.

Finally - after the endless debating between Job and his friends, and after all of Job's agony and crying out to God, the Lord finally shows up and speaks. But immediately we realize that what the Lord says is unexpected. Is God callous or indifferent to Job's suffering- Or does the fact that He speaks communicate all that needs to be said-

God speaks- through providence, and through nature, calling us to see Him, humble ourselves before Him, and trust in who He has revealed Himself to be.

Elihu continues to declare to Job that he's forgotten who God is, as he calls him and us to see Him and properly re-orientate our lives around Him.

Job has said God is not fair, and he's angry at God's apparent silence. Elihu comes to preach to him, and to us, of God's goodness and justice, and he calls Job to repent.
