  • Mark Harris: The Power of Positive Deception

Note: APOLOGIES FOR THE LATE POST! Mary welcomes the president of Spiritual Counterfeits Project, Mark Harris, to talk about the Success Motivation movement, and how it has lasted so long, and continues to influence the church. Some listeners will remember the likes of Dale Carnegie, Norman Vincent Peale and Robert Schuller – all proponents of this positive thinking type of approach to life. But is it just thinking the right thoughts? Rick Warren has said many times that Schuller was his inspiration for The Purpose Driven Life – a self help book for the ages, selling 50 million copies. We cannot overstate the influence these men had on our collective psyche for the last 100 years. What are the core principles of the SM movement? What are the dangers of being influenced by it? Today’s pervasive mantra, “You’ve got this!” is a similar self-help approach to any difficulty as if that alone is going to solve any problems, self-made or inflicted by life. There is something about this style of positive, name and claim mental gymnastics that has captivated so many  – and we will take a bite out of it today, helping the listener be discerning and careful in what we think about – and trust in.

  • Headlines: Postcards from Babel

Tim and Mary take on the news cycle with a bit of a twist: living large in the last days, Babylon style. We talk about the change of seasons and how that brings a reality to the times. The nature of worship today is certainly one of the changes we have waded through, but not just to add to the conversation about it, rather perhaps put a finger on the problem: subjectivity. In the pursuit of making sure the Holy Spirit shows up to our gatherings, we have all but stopped worshiping in Spirit AND in truth: with our minds and our hearts. We talk about the hymn culture that produced doctrine and how that leads us in worship. Then we look at being ambassadors for Christ, doing the King’s bidding in our service, not our own or even for our own earthly home. Finally, how some are paying the price for serving the King wherever they might find themselves. Hello from Babylon, wish you were here…but there’s no place like home.

  • J Warner Wallace: Identity Crisis – Christ or Culture?

Mary welcomes back premier apologist J. Warner Wallace to talk about our identity in Christ, and our identity in Christ in –  America. He enjoys asking his audiences questions like ” Why Are You a Christian?” and “Why Aren’t You a Christian?”. The answers to those simple questions tell him and us a lot about the state of the church today. Our identity is everything. In Christ it’s “received, not achieved”. But in the culture it might be based on your identity politics, your social, economic and educational status, or your appearance – and a host of other qualifiers. In Christ, we already should know who we are based on Who He is, and that should set the stage for everything we say and do. Does it? Why is the church having an identity crisis then, because the Bible tells us all about Whom we worship and how to live. But we are so busy deconstructing, taking dominion, and worrying about who is in charge of the world that we just forget who we are and what the church is for. And then there is social media where we are all grappling to state and defend our own identity. A full hour of reasoning together on the church’s identity crisis here in 2026.

  • Replay – Trey Dellinger: the Culture, the Pulpit, and the Courthouse

[Originally aired 1/22/26] Mary welcomes back Trey Dellinger, the Senior Legal Fellow of AFA Action, the government affairs affiliate of American Family Association. Trey has his finger on the pulse of the moral issues that affect our churches and our families. Today we look at the current SCOTUS cases on trans athletes in women’s sports. Trey gives us the rundown on those cases and why he has reason for optimism. Then we look at the first amendment as it relates to protesters storming churches. Whether it’s for attention or to bait Christians about race and their perspectives on what is important, we have to see what our rights are as believers. We also take a look at how our kids can be better protected online, since parents aren’t always the best gatekeepers – although that is their job. Finally we look at Human Trafficking Prevention month. So many moral issues, how do we keep up, and how can we help pastors keep up as well?

  • David Spagnola: The Third Watch – Dangers, Toils and Snares

Mary welcomes author and watchman David Spagnola to talk about what we need to heed in this late hour regarding the church. The “third watch” of the night in the Bible represented a specific military guard shift and symbolized alertness, readiness and things that go bump in the deep night. As a church, David warns us in his book, “The Silent Pulpit” of the dangers, toils and snares of the times we live in, specifically things preachers no longer preach.  As a watchman, he exposes the patterns that churches have fallen into, thinking they are simply “doing church” when in reality the slide toward lukewarmness is so far gone, one wonders what the church was ever supposed to look like anymore. David has a love for the church and Bible prophecy and while writing about such things is grievous and sobering, to fail to warn the church is to be a watchmen that has fallen asleep on his or her shift. And at this point, it’s the late shifts that are the most difficult.

  • Replay – Scott Townsend: The Church, the World, and the Pull of Ai

[From 12/16/25] Mary welcomes back researcher, author and prophecy student Scott Townsend to chat specifically on Ai in the church. This is a murky subject, because the church has existed for over 2000 years and never once said to itself, “gee we need technology to carry out our mission in the world.” And it will always be so, because worship, discipleship, study and fellowship do not need any additives or preservatives. Yet here we are, ethically working through this thing that the whole world is coming under, as if on cue. The Bible, interestingly enough, only mentions the end game of it, we are in real time seeing its genesis. How can the prophecy student not be on the edge of their seats over this fulfillment in real time? We talk about the issues at hand that the church, which is not to be conformed to this world, had better take seriously in order to be truly effective and rely on our true source of power, the Holy Spirit.

  • Kyle Peart and Flynn Huseby: Hebrews – The Superiority of Christ

Mary welcomes back Kyle Peart and Flynn Huseby of Once Lost Ministries to take an overview approach to the book of Hebrews. Jesus clearly had no respect for the religious leaders of His day as He takes on the pharisees in Matthew 23, exposing their hypocrisy and legalism for all time. His very ministry was the polar opposite of the religious systems’ approach to coming to God through another mediator, one that usurps His ministry of grace alone, through faith alone, through HIM alone.  That message still being lost on subsequent religions large and small, we continue to fight the good fight of rightly dividing the Word and exchanging our filthy rags of works for His righteousness. We talk about that very thing that shines so brightly about this book of the Bible, the themes and what we can glean for our own lives. Flynn’s thorough article, “The Book of Hebrews Vs. the Roman Catholic Church” can be found here. A full hour with sound apologists who daily fight the good fight for truth and point us directly to the finished work of the cross.
