  • Replay – Mary Danielsen: Not So Among You – #Narcissism

    Mary Danielsen

Originally aired 7/10/25: Mary takes on a topic that may be hard to hear, but is necessary, and few in the church are speaking out about it. The passage is 2 Timothy 3:1-5. When the Bible talks about perilous times, we tend to think about those headlines that appear suddenly and stand the world on its head – birth pangs, wars and rumours, Israel. And yet these verses point to a peril no one wants to talk about: the human heart. And not of unbelievers, but in the church. How in the world did we get here, loving self more than God? And yet, churches are battling this ill more and more to the point where believers are staying away. Yes, lack of sound doctrine plays a part – sometimes. But when narcissism begins to work its evil throughout a church, flowing primarily from controlling and unaccountable leadership, who is watching out for the sheep? What is a “form of godliness”? Why does Paul say to avoid such? What are the qualifications for pulpit ministry? Christians tend to be gracious and put up with a lot of mischief from leadership, as long as the doctrine is sound. But what does God think about those who mistreat His people? Let’s let the Word do the talking on this one, but talk about it we must. The gentiles lord it over others, but it should “not be so among you”. A challenging hour on an elephant-in-the-room topic. PDF transcription – click here.

  • JB Hixson: True North

    Dr. JB Hixson

Mary welcomes back JB Hixson to take a closer look at his latest book, “The Great Last Days Apostasy”. With seemingly so many different ways in which the church has lost the plot regarding her mission, events of late dictate that perhaps the chapter in his book on falling away politically deserves a second and third look. While the church seems to think that saving the American way of life from imploding should include a side order of the gospel, and while that is a noble thought, we should rather ask, “what are we missing?”. Maybe the overarching question should be, “what are we losing?” as politics takes center stage more and more. The passing of the head of TPUSA has revealed many things about the church here in 2025, and the biblical maturity of those who are inheriting it. We talk about Christian Nationalism, the marriage of politics and faith; Dominion Theology, postmillennialism, and why Americans are so obsessed with politics. What is the Left? What is the Right? Is it really just Coke or Pepsi? Are Christians so naive to think that there is salvation of ANY kind in politics, considering who owns the systems of the world? A challenging hour to think long and hard about things that come and go, and things that are eternal.

  • Mary Danielsen: A Generous Spirit

Today Mary looks at a pivotal passage in Acts 16. We lay a groundwork of gratitude and thankfulness which are to mark our days on this earth. This is part of who we must be, to reflect to a lost and dying world our gratitude for the provision of salvation. If we are not thankful and filled with hope, who will be?  Then we widen the lens and talk about Lydia and her testimony. The book of Acts is loaded from beginning to end not only with the history of the church and the Jew/Gentile paradigm, but contains patterns of living and dying we need to hear about even in 2025. Applications abound, and Lydia’s story is no exception. Plus: on this Paul’s 2nd missionary journey, we find a world-altering event that even Paul couldn’t have planned for. God is in the details, just like He is with each of us. Be encouraged! He is on the throne and here we are in the West, fruit of – Acts 16.

  • Testimony Tuesday: Bruce Carroll – State of the Art

Mary welcomes Bruce Carroll to the podcast to talk about his story, his life, his art. Bruce is a quintessential musician and artist in every facet. We talk about his early years, how they formed who he is, coming from a broken home. Becoming a Christian was the farthest thing from his thoughts, like most of us. One thread that runs through every testimony from his age group is a love of music, as though that was bound to be part of our lives. How did music enter into his day to day, what was he able to build upon to become such an iconic singer songwriter in the church? We talk about the Grammys, Dove Awards, touring, record contracts, parenting, and grandparenting. Bruce is a compassionate lover of truth, and a true blessing to the church; his heart for people comes through in all he does. We also talk about the point at which the church became an inward-looking entity instead of outward. What was the Apostle Paul’s answer to a selfish church? “Have nothing to do with them.” An insightful hour with one of the great songwriters of our generation.

  • Elizabeth Urbanowicz: Firm Foundations for Life

Mary welcomes new guest Elizabeth Urbanowicz, a follower of Jesus Christ who is passionate about equipping kids to understand the truth of the Christian worldview. Elizabeth began her professional career as an elementary teacher in a Christian school. Several years into her teaching experience, she realized that despite being raised in Christian homes, attending a Christian school, and being active in church, her students thought more like the culture than like Christ. She began searching for curricular materials that would equip her students to think critically, helping them discover that Christianity is the worldview that lines up with reality. After not finding any materials that met this need, she began creating a curriculum for her students. Today we look at how to move our kids forward, and pursue excellence in everything, at a time when the culture keeps going backwards everywhere we look. Counteracting a worldly worldview is a full time job. How can families and churches proactively keep their youth engaged with truth? What will it take, consistently and purposefully? A full hour with Elizabeth as we seek to begin to guard our hearts with all diligence and raise children to be confident, passionate lovers of truth. (A discount code has been set up for our listeners, save $10 off a family license of any curriculum using STANDUP10.)

  • TA McMahon: Enter Through the Strait Gate

[Original airdate: 7/2/24] Mary chats with TA McMahon of The Berean Call about the nature of so many false teachings today, and the various reactions by the church as to what, if anything, can be done about it. Why is there so much apostasy? The bible says we have a choice, that we must choose to enter by the strait gate, and yet “few there be that find it.”  When the church started to go through many different phases in the last 30 years or so, many believers didn’t follow up on warnings, and as such it has become very difficult to keep up. And to say there is sorcery in the church, that is something many may not understand; but through the New Age and experientially-based Christianity, this has indeed become the case. Times ahead may get tougher, so we have to ask ourselves, are we standing firm on the foundation of truth?

  • Jim Fletcher: Keep Your Eye on the Ball

Mary welcomes back Jim Fletcher to discuss the growing malevolent force of Jew hatred around the world, particularly in Europe. The walls are closing in on the Jewish people and the level of hate is astonishing. There seems no possibility of stemming the tide either, so since it will only increase, how late is it? What is the end game? We look at systemic antisemitism that is as old as time, so we should not be surprised but in the modern era, are we really unable to police the hate in the hearts of humans? Not in these times, is my conclusion. And unfortunately, it appears the church has taken their eye off the ball on this. We look at the seriousness of this and other observations about the current headlines regarding Israel. Jim is an Israel expert, regarding their history, their current state, the church, and what is to come. A sobering but essential talk on what is really going on around the world with God’s chosen people. His prophecy blog, “The God That Answers”, can be found on Patreon here.

  • Don Veinot: Your Worldview, Your Jesus, Your Eternity

Mary welcomes back Don Veinot to talk about taming Jesus to fit a progressive worldview, false representations of Christian and Christianity, and what fills that void every human has. For the last few decades especially, the progressive left has not only sought to dominate the American political landscape, but has infiltrated the church – purposefully and methodically. From Red Letter Christians to Social Justice warriors, the church has been leaning left on a large scale. The church has been duped into rethinking gay rights, social causes and immigration; Israel is no longer the apple of God’s eye and that piece of land is now home to apartheid and genocidal Jews. How did we get here, and what are the dangers of such an unbiblical worldview? Does it impact our eternity? Yes, and people are making eternal choices over temporal issues, misrepresenting Jesus and His ministry. A thoughtful hour on the Jesus of the Left.  Don Veinot and his wife Joy are co-founder and president of Midwest Christian Outreach, Inc. (MCOI), a mission to cults and non-Christian religions based in Wonder Lake, IL. They have studied numerous cults and new religious movements impacting the church since 1987. Don is a frequent guest on numerous radio and television broadcasts including The John Ankerberg Show as well as being a staff researcher and writer for the Midwest Christian Outreach Journal. Additionally, Don is co-author of the book A Matter of Basic Principles: Bill Gothard and His Cultish Teachings, as well as various research articles in the CRI Journal, PFO Quarterly Journal, Campus Life Magazine, Journal of the International Society of Christian Apologetics, Midwestern Journal of Theology, and other periodicals.
