Mary welcomes back Flynn Huseby to talk about the ascension of Jesus Christ and the beginnings of the church. Here on the podcast we have paid special attention to the events of Holy Week, the Road to Emmaus, and the beginnings of the church – and the confusion it sent through the believing Jewish religious system/believing community of the day. Speaking of systems, along comes the church and now the disciples are commissioned to make disciples as well. So much going on in this stretch of time, and yet here in the 21st century the church is still going. But what does it look like? What was it supposed to look like? We discuss the main categories in which the church has strayed from the simplicity of following Christ – a community of saints under the headship of the Lord Jesus, serving and lifting one another up, walking each other home. Evangelicalism more and more looks less like the original intent, and the enemy of our souls has been hard at work for centuries making sure that is true. Looking in the mirror as a church is never easy, but Flynn helps us sort a few things out.

When putting godly men like Dave Hunt, TA, Henry Morris, and J Vernon side by side we get a picture of 20th century men that God greatly used. We will look at the legacies of each one, and talk about what it means to be a Berean in 2025. Where are today’s great apologists and theologians? A thoughtful hour with a thoughtful brother.

Mary welcomes back JB Hixson on this Good Friday to talk about the importance of clinging to the cross in living out our day to day faith. When Jesus gave up His spirit, the veil in the temple was torn in two. This was no window curtain, it was at least 60 feet high and 4″ thick – and separated the common area of the Temple from the Holy of Holies accessible only by the High Priest. The symbolism is simple: through the rending of the flesh of our Saviour, we now have access by grace to God through Jesus. What a glorious truth. This also means that we can not rely on ritual, tradition, or works to draw near to God, we are now bondsmen of Christ. So, once we understand that, what would the life of the believer look like? What should the church look like not just in our day to day service to God but corporately? Has the church become distracted by far too many bells, whistles, and sound systems? Are we still connected to the Head? The daily life of confession, repentance, cleansing and faith, minus any righteousness of our own is truly the only way to the fruitful Christian life. Circumcision of the heart.

Vance Havner once said, “The church is so subnormal that if it ever got back to the New Testament normal, it would seem to people to be abnormal.” So since that’s loaded with observational wisdom, we have to ask ourselves, “How did we get here?”. JB takes us through 7 categories of apostasy and how it affects our witness in these last days. The falling away of the church biblically, eschatologically, morally, socially, evangelistically, academically and politically pretty much covers every way the church interacts with the world. Each category gives a thorough explanation and in many cases, a warning, of the treacherous waters the church finds itself in due to compromise – biblical compromise. Especially concerning are the moral compromises that blind the heart and mind of the one who disregards God’s warnings when we trespass His protective boundaries. Whether read in a single setting or used as a resource, this book is a must have for these last times.

Mary welcomes back Kyle Peart and Flynn Huseby of Once Lost Ministries to discuss a foundational Bible topic: sound doctrine. What is it? Why is it so important? If doctrine is simply defined as instruction, and in the last days Paul tells us that people will have no taste for it (“will not endure…”) then what does that say about the church in these times? That church-goers will not be teachable. And that is very true unfortunately; deriding doctrine is the skill of cults and false systems. Sad to say, if a person believes they are in the faith but refuses the truth of non-negotiable doctrine, there is no good news for them. We will talk about the divisive nature of truth as found in doctrine, and we also look at doctrines of devils; also how sound doctrine unites true believers. It might be difficult to comprehend how those who are supposed to have the Holy Spirit Who guides us into all truth could ever assent to false teaching. Peter warns us in his 2nd epistle that “many will follow their destructive ways” and so that is a reality that must be accepted and learned from. Destructive doctrines by depraved teachers will have eternal consequences. Mankind is prone to being deceived ever since the fall, but how can the average believer guard their hearts with all diligence when there are so many doctrines – some demonic – vying for our attention? Are some just ignoring that still, small voice? Are believers too trusting of anyone who calls themselves a pastor? All this and more with JB to continue to equip the church for dark days. There is no other group or culture that the tolerant left would allow to be shown such rancour – except Christians, of course. Are these evil mobs really terrorists at heart? Also, in Ezekiel we look at the “peace and safety” clause of the timing of the Gog and Magog war.
