Jesus told a parable about two workers. One had worked all day and the other just squeaked in at the last moment. However, they both received the same pay. This upset the one who had borne burden of a whole day's work. This world loves poles and surveys. Had a survey been handed to him, there would definitely be a less than positive response.

However, if the survey were given to Jesus, there would be a bright light revealing the heart of God. We would no longer measure the realities that surround us from our fallen perspective, but from the perspective of the redemptive power of God. This brings us back to the parables that Jesus gave us. Perhaps if the world would take a survey on these parables, the final reports that we often hear from the news media would be different. There would be Good News.

Now, imagine if one day you had John’s vision of Jesus! Just as you were about to melt, Jesus asked you this: May I pray for you? Jesus’ prayer in John 17 is still alive today because Jesus is alive today. Now, our prayer as that this prayer may come alive in those who do not yet know him.

We belong to him. We are his. Lastly, we are then sent back into the world. We are separated, sanctified and sent. We are fully qualified to serve God where ever we are. May the prayer of Jesus, in John 17, become a reality in all of our lives more and more every day.

The other son stayed at home. However, both sons were just as far away from the father. The majesty of this parable is that it reveals the heart of God and his passion to forgive. This forgiveness has lost none of its power for 2,000 years. And in all of this tumbling turmoil the final product is joy.
