Jim Tarbell's Ludlow Garage was open from September 1969 to January 1971, just about 18 months. But in that time the music venue hosted some of the best bands in Cincinnati, along with some of the biggest names in rock, including Alice Cooper, Santana, The Kinks and the Allman Brothers.

It’s been one year since Cincinnati’s controversy over a tent city, which had popped up downtown on Third Street. The area, which served as a camp for people experiencing homelessness, became known as The Colony.

In 1938, the Latonia Racetrack in Covington was filled with an estimated crowd of 50,000 as President Franklin D. Roosevelt came to town to make his case for the New Deal and to argue that it was working for Kentucky. He noted that he knew about Latonia and its famous track because he was a reader of the sports page. FDR carried Kentucky in all four of his successful bids for the presidency.

A new exhibit, Men of Change: Power. Triumph. Truth. , opens at the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center this Saturday, Aug. 17.

When the American transcontinental railroad was completed in 1869, it brought with it a major transformation to the United States. The railroad, which stretched 1,900 miles from the east to the Pacific Coast, drastically shortened what was a dangerous journey across the country. Often forgotten in this remarkable story are the nearly 20,000 Chinese workers who completed the West Coast segment of the railroad.

The family of Kyle Plush has filed a wrongful death suit in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court. The 16-year-old died inside his van outside Seven Hills School on April 10, 2018. His death – caused by suffocation after the rear seat in the van flipped over and trapped him – prompted multiple inquiries into how Cincinnati’s 911 system handled the teen’s two calls for help.

In the wake of a mass shooting in Dayton, Ohio, this past Sunday, Governor Mike DeWine took a dramatic shift Tuesday, unveiling several new proposals to curb gun violence. The move comes after a crowd of mourners chanted "Do something" at the governor during a vigil Sunday night.
