For the 5th episode of the CIO podcast hosted by Healthcare IT Today, we’re sitting down with Juan Luis Cruz, CIO at Hospital Universitario 12 de Octubre.  For those not familiar with Juan Luis Cruz, he’s a hospital CIO in Madrid Spain.  In this episode we learn how being the CIO internationally is different than being a healthcare CIO in the US.  Plus, he shares some of the things that are the same.

Along with sharing some international perspectives on the role of CIO in healthcare, Cruz also shares some of the biggest challenges he faces.  We also ask him about the best piece of advice he’s been given as CIO and what innovations and technologies he’s keeping an eye on to see how they can help his organization.  Finally, he shares his view on how the CIO is going to change in the next 5-10 years and what a CIO should be doing to be ready.
