The diseases has seen ordinary people adopting several measures to minimise the spread of the disease including the wearing of face masks. However the random disposal of  disposable face masks has caused a serious environmental problem as littering has become a cause for concern. The Environmental Management Agency EMA, the ministry of health and local authorities in Masvingo have expressed concern over litter caused by the disposal of face masks as people indiscriminately throw away litter everywhere.
