After a week off (pre-empted by a live slam poetry broadcast) tonight's show was programmed by my friend and tonight's co-host Karen. Bear with the opening chit-chat and ye shall be rewarded with such treasures as Iggy Pop in a Slavic-folk groove, new Australian roots music, and a soothing soul set to close the show. We have indeed been enjoying a bit of the ole Indian summer here in the Lower Mainland. Tonight's show included sunny new releases from all over North America, and a phone interview with Edmonton singer-songwriter Daniel Moir. He'll be rolling into our town Oct. 28.
Next week's show will be pre-empted but I'll be back live (with a special guest host) on November 3.

We paid tribute to the late great Mr. Burke tonight. He was larger than life, and will remain so in the afterlife, I'm sure. Autumn crispness in the air, Film Fest is underway, CFMA nominees have been announced. We featured the 'Pushing the Boundaries' category tonight and a phone interview with Saskatoon's Jen Lane. She's at the Railway Club on October 10.

Autumn leaves may be falling but at least we have a respite from autumn rains for the time being. Yay! Tonight's show featured a phone interview with banjo player Jayme Stone, who will be performing at Capilano Performing Arts Centre Oct. 2. We also played a set of polkas, featuring local band The Dreadnoughts (CD release Oct. 1 at Rickshaw Theatre). Hold on to your hats!
