  • Immigrants are Not our Enemy (Hour 1)

Maggie Daun memorializes Cecile Richards, a past president of Planned Parenthood (2008-2016), daughter of former Texas Governor Ann Richards, who passed today. Next, Maggie discussed the legal challenges filed today by at least 18 states against Trump's ban on birthright citizenship.

Maggie then turns her attention to the "Alien Enemies Act of 1798," which empowers the president to detain or deport individuals who are natives or citizens of enemy countries, effectively permitting the indefinite detention based on a person's nationality. It violates the 5th Amendment, the constitutional protection against indefinite civil detention, and our basic American value that we will not strip rights from groups but rather judge people based on their individual actions.

Maggie then takes on the J6 pardons - has Donald Trump just blessed roving mobs that may attack black and brown folks?

Then Dom Salvia joins Maggie for "In Case You Missed It" -- they discuss Musk's Nazi salute x 3 and Trump's "admission" that Musk meddled in Pennsylvania. Last, they discuss Biden's final pardons of Leonard Peltier and of his family (but for what crimes exactly).

  • Inauguration Day (Hour 1)

Donald Trump was flanked by his family and the world's most morbidly richest of the rich - the combined net worth of those seated behind the 47th President (~10 people) have a combined net worth of somewhere approaching $12 trillion. The bottom 95% of Americans (318,000,000 people) TOGETHER have a TOTAL net worth of around $3.8 trillion. The corruption is real. Trump ran on lifting up the middle class but his opening salvo to America reveals his actual priorities: growing the wealth of the wealthiest at our collective expense.

Maggie analyzes some key portions of Trump's inaugural address, including Trump's shameful self-serving invocation of MLK, Jr. The caucasity of it all!

Maggie calls Judge Merchan a genius and Dom agrees. Find out why and tune in!

Finally, Nite Lite with Pete Schwaba is joined by director of the new Packers movie, Green and Gold, Anders Lindwall. Anders and Pete talk about living growing up in the Upper Peninsula. • Civic Media Spotlight for January 18th & 19th (Hour 1)

Kicking off the weekend, we recall Jane, Greg and Cal inviting Steven Arenzon, the owner of Wisconsin Knitcaps to the show to talk about the legacy of the company, the mission of what they do and why he just doesn't want to print anything with cussing! It is the relaunch of our Beyond The Cheese segment and he brought us custom made hats to celebrate!

After that, on UpNorthNews Radio Pat is joined by Wisconsin Supreme Court candidate Susan Crawford, currently serving as a Dane County judge, who is running against Scott Walker’s former attorney general Brad Schimel for a pivotal role on the state’s high court in the April 1 election. Crawford tells the show about her experience and takes issue with Schimel’s recent comment in support of the January 6 insurrectionists who launched a violent attack on the US Capitol.

Wrapping up the hour, Tim Slekar talks about multiple intelligences on the John & Gordy Show, and John and Kathryn give examples of how when they were kids, teachers allowed them to express learning in different ways, rather than a standardized test - and how that needs to be emphasized more now.

Maggie and Tom Palzewicz, Maggie's regular Thursday co-host, dive into the billionaire class -- with Trump's leadership -- gutting the regulations that ensure fair competition, safe water, and our children's future. We next move onto the nincompoop "confirmation" hearings, if they can be called that. Can we trust what the nominees are saying? We think not.

  • Women in the 119th Congress (Hour 2)

Every Wednesday at 3pm, Maggie is joined by a special guest from EMILY's List for a segment called "Sounds Like Change." The ladies also discuss the upcoming Wisconsin Supreme Court election in April, candidate Judge Susan Crawford, and the implications for voters in Wisconsin as they look ahead.

Then Maggie premieres her new Wednesday 3:30 segment, "Over the Hump and Trump," focused on sharing thoughts and ideas with callers to move, play, create, connect, rest, and laugh more in 2025. Because everyone needs a break from the "trumpiness" of it all. Today we talk about finding peace amidst all the noise - to recapture our creative spirit and connect with one another.

  • The Highest Principles of Prosecution (Hour 1)

Maggie dives deep into Jack Smith's January 6 Report, exploring what we should demand and what we deserve from every person who works in law enforcement: nonpartisan and objective pursuit of the facts and application of law to the facts, without fear or favor, completely independent of and free from all political influence or partisan purposes. Maggie takes two conservative callers and tries to get to the root of these issues. She drops two of her ten major takeaways from the Smith J6 Report, promising to pick up the discussion again tomorrow with her guest co-host, Tom Palzewicz.

  • Pete Hegseth Isn’t It! (Hour 2)

Maggie debunks two frequent-flier big lies from the MAGA right: that the House Special Committee on January 6th destroyed evidence (lie) and that Nancy Pelosi turned down 10,000 National Guardsmen (lie). In fact, in the days leading up to January 6, President Trump was urged to ensure the security of the joint session and to deploy the National Guard to aid in managing security, but refused to do so. Then Maggie discusses the debacle that was Pete Hegseth's Senate confirmation hearing this morning, featuring questioning by Senators Gillibrand, Blumenthal, Hirono, and Kaine.
