The final countdown is on for Together for Hospice, The National Hospice Movement’s 35th annual Hospice Sunflower Days campaign.

Fundraising activities will be taking place at shopping centres throughout the Mid-West this Friday and Saturday (6th & 7th June) to raise funds for Milford Care Centre.

These activities will include hospice volunteers selling an array of sunflower merchandise in towns & villages throughout Clare and the rest of the Mid-West.

To discuss this in detail, Alan Morrissey was joined by Anne Marie Hayes from Milford Care Centre.

A strategic marine alliance is coming together in County Clare.

The Kilrush-headquartered Irish Whale and Dolphin Group and the newly formed Banner Gleo have joined forces, with support from the Local Biodiversity Action Fund (National Parks and Wildlife Service) and Clare County Council, to build knowledge and share experiences of Liscannor Bay.

Cosmic Garden Fest is making its eagerly awaited return later this month.

The Inagh-based music festival will take place on Saturday, the 14th of June.

A host of great acts are set to perform on the day, with the addition of an acoustic stage this year.

Ennis has a new tattoo studio. 

Clare-based French tattoo artist, Lucie Kelly, has opened ‘Wee Lucie’ on Kelly’s Corner in the county town. 

Lucie's vibrant blue pieces tend to catch most people's eyes, particularly among the Irish.

Zimmer Biomet Páirc Chíosóg was the location for a recent, fantastic display of inclusivity in sport for students with additional needs. 

Realtaí an Chláir saw children from over 28 schools across County Clare with additional needs taking part. 

The event was organised by Ballyea National School.

Tributes are being paid following the death of a young Clare woman who took part in a half marathon in Scotland.

24-year-old Olivia Tuohy from Ennis died after taking part in the Edinburgh Marathon Festival on the 25th of May last.

Olivia had played football and camogie with Banner Ladies and Éire Óg here in Ennis, as well as being a member of Ennis Tennis & Badminton Club (ETBC) before heading to Scotland to study at Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh, where she had been working as a nurse.

Olivia will be laid to rest on Saturday, following at Ennis Cathedral.

She is survived by her parents Kieran and Liz, brother Stephen, and partner Michael.

Alan Morrissey spoke with Pat McMahon, Olivia’s former coach at Éire Óg, and her best friend, Roisín Martin.

Consistent investment by the Government is believed to be crucial to the continued success of Shannon Airport.

Ryanair has this week announced a fourth based aircraft and three additional routes at the Clare base.

The airline's Irish Growth Plan forecasts its number of passengers annually passing through Shannon to increase to three million by 2030 while it expects to have six aircraft based there by the end of the decade.

Shannon Airport Group CEO Mary Considine says while the facility is heading in the right direction, State support is essential.

It's hoped day care services at Regina House will open on a full time basis, once the service recommences.

The HSE has confirmed plans are in place to resume day care services at the Kilrush facility by the end of 2025.

The day care centre was closed following the onset of the coronavirus lockdown, having previously operated five days a week.

Bodyke Fine Gael TD, Joe Cooney, is hopeful the centre will be restored to level it was pre-covid.
