500 second-level teachers from all over the country will gather to discuss the future of education and teaching in Ireland at the 2025 ASTI Annual Convention.

The Convention in Killarney will run from today until Thursday (22nd to 24th of April).

The event in the Gleneagle INEC Arena will be addressed by ASTI President Donal Cremin and Minister for Education and Youth Helen McEntee later today (Tuesday).

Clare County Council is calling for a dedicated Oireachtas committee to scrutinise ambulance response problems here.

The local authority is seeking a full investigation into an incident which resulted in a woman waiting three hours by the roadside following a single vehicle crash in Doonbeg.

It's also requesting a probe into the awarding of the new Coast Guard Search and Rescue Aviation contract to Bristow Ireland, amid concerns over training, which it's understood has restricted operating hours to between 8am and 8pm.

It's hoped that a heavily-trafficked lane in a residential part of Ennis will be resurfaced before the year is out.

Calls are being made for the lane between Marian Avenue and Steeles Terrace, known locally as 'the Boreen', to be inspected, due to its quality having deteriorated of late.
