A violent attack by a dog on livestock in East Clare has prompted Clare's County Dog Warden to once again urge people to rein in their pets.

A German Shepherd is understood to have killed five sheep while injuring several others after entering a field in Garraunboy in Killaloe in recent days.

The dog's owner has subsequently put the animal down and has reimbursed the farmer for the lost sheep.

Frankie Coote says at all times of the days, dogs should be kept under control to prevent similar vicious incidents.

The past few weeks have been busy ones for Leaving Cert students, with mock exams taking place.

As we are now in pre-exam season, with our future graduates making their all-important CAO decisions, an important thing to consider is transferable skills.

Transferable skills – or “power skills” – are becoming more desirable in graduates and the future workforce.

What makes these skills so key is that they are “human” skills that cannot be replicated by A.I. - or Artificial Intelligence.

This means someone with transferable skills has a significant advantage in the job market.

Miltown LGFA, along with St. Joseph's Miltown Malbay GAA Club and St. Joseph’s Secondary School Spanish Point, have joined forces to create an offshoot of the popular Netflix TV show, where hundreds of cash-strapped contestants accept an invitation to compete in children's games for a tempting prize, but the stakes are deadly.

While Quid Game in Miltown Malbay may not contain such deadly stakes, it promises to be a test of skill, patience, wits, and endurance.

The aim of Quid Game is to raise funds for the development of a new training pitch.

A really interesting show will take to the stage at Glór on Wednesday, February 19th at 6pm.

Punk Alley is described as a “loud, wild, and unapologetic joyride of live original punk music and high energy dance that asks big questions, creating a vibrant and fun space for young people to explore what they want to use their voice to fight for.”

The show is fully ISL interpreted and everyone is invited to participate in creating songs, writing placards, and playing music.

Shannon Chamber is encouraging companies in Clare to tap into the talent pool offered by people who have immigrated to the county. Clare County Council’s integration team identified that between Ukrainian immigrants and people living in IPAS accommodation, there are 6,000 skilled people available for employment. Last week, a seminar hosted by Shannon Chamber found that many people were volunteering as their first job in Ireland rather than seeking employment in their qualified professions. Chief Executive, Helen Downes, says if companies recruit from this cohort, it will provide a great economic boost for Clare.

US and Russian officials will begin talks in Saudi Arabia today aimed at bringing an end to the conflict in Ukraine.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy says he will "never accept" any decision made without Ukraine, but the Americans say this is just the opening salvo to suss out how serious Russia is about peace.

UN Assistant Secretary-General for Europe, Central Asia and the Americas, Miroslav Jenca says all parties to the conflict must be included in the negotiations...

Meanwhile, a Russian official is accusing the EU of being 'blinded by Russophobia.'

European leaders held their own talks in Paris on Monday.

But Vasily Nebenzya has ruled out any European involvement in Ukraine peace negotiations, ahead of today’s meeting between the US and the Kremlin in Saudi Arabia...

Significant advancements are expected on major flood relief projects in Clare this year. In a written parliamentary response to Meelick TD Cathal Crowe, Minister of State Kevin 'Boxer' Moran confirmed a detailed design for the construction of the Kilkee scheme will be completed in the coming months. Additionally, it's anticipated that planning permission will be sought for the €27m Shannon Flood Relief Scheme between October and December. Shannonbanks Sinn Féin Councillor James Ryan says the development is urgently needed.

A Clare man has been handed a prestigious role for this year’s St. Patrick’s Day parade in New York.

Gerry Grady who hails from Minister’s Cross in Sixmilebridge will be the Grand Marshal for the Emerald Guild Society for the world’s oldest and largest St. Patrick’s Day parade!

The Irish Cancer Society is calling on the new Minister for Health to prioritise improvements in cancer care.

The call follows a mixed report card for Ireland from the European Commission Country Cancer profiles.

In particular, the Irish Cancer Society is calling for expanded screening services, shorter waiting times for cancer tests and treatment, and faster access to new medicines.
