Clare County Council has confirmed its community response hubs will remain open for the duration of the humanitarian fallout of Storm Éowyn as people across Clare enter their ninth day without electricity.

Five community response hubs were established in the worst affected areas of the county amid extended fallout and unprecedented damage following Storm Éowyn.

The ESB confirmed that some customers in Clare would remain without power until the middle of next week, while 1,300 properties were in the dark coming into the weekend.

Director of Rural Development, Corporate and Cultural Services at Clare County Council, Ann Reynolds, says the hub in Cross, mainly used as a remote working site has been stood down, however, all locations with a need for the service remain open.

Clare Gardaí are appealing to people to slow down and to never drink under the influence of an intoxicant, ahead of the first bank holiday weekend of the year. An Garda Síochána's road safety campaign is now underway and will remain in place until 7 o'clock on Tuesday morning, with an increase in Garda presence and speed traps to be expected on the county's roads. So far this year 14 people have lost their lives on Irish roads, a decrease of one from the figure at the end of January last year, with statistics indicating people aged between 17 and 20 are more likely to be involved in a serious accident. Head of the Roads Policing Unit in the Clare-Tipperary Garda Division, Superintendent Eddie Golden has been telling Clare FM's Darragh O'Grady that because of this, Gardaí are particularly appealing for young people to be careful this weekend.

It's feared a prominent North Clare harbour will be devastated unless emergency repair works are carried out immediately.

The back wall of Liscannor Bay suffered significant damage last year due to a series of swells penetrating the rock armour, however its condition has deteriorated following Storm Éyown, leaving deep cracks and holes in the walkway, which has now been fenced off from the public.

Clare County Council has carried out a preliminary assessment of the extensive damage caused , while all ships that had been in the bay have been brought ashore.

Local Fisherman Michael O'Connell who's been operating there for over 40 years says it's a seriously dangerous situation thats putting livelihoods on hold.

There have been conversations held around the country about Storm Éowyn and how the government has handled their response to the storm.

Storm restoration work continues again at first light today.

Around 164 homes, farms, and businesses connected to the grid at Ennis North.

Ennistymon are among 25,000 properties which are now eleven days without power.

We are into mock exam season!

There will be many students around Clare who are either sitting or getting ready to sit their mock Junior and Leaving Cert exams.

Therefore, it is timely to offer some advice and useful strategies for the mocks, as well as advice for those students with dyslexia.

The girls in Rice College are no doubt still on a high, following their recent sporting success.

That’s after they won the Munster schools Camogie u16.5 C title.
