Hundreds of homes and businesses in East Clare remain without power today following the devastation of Storm Éowyn.

Many in the likes of Feakle, Scariff and Tuamgraney lost electricity on Friday morning with some now entering their fifth day of outages.

While power had returned to many in Tulla, a transformer fault at 11:30 on Monday morning has resulted in outages for many on the main street and beyond but it's believed power will be restored to the majority of those affected by 9 tonight.

One area still grappling with electricity outages is O'Callaghan's Mills where Clare Irish Creamery and Milk Suppliers Association Secretary Martin McMahon resides.

Clare County Council is holding an emergency meeting today to discuss the humanitarian response to Storm Éwoyn.

It comes as some communities in West and North Clare are now entering their fourth day without access to water, electricity and phone coverage.

Residents of Inagh are now into their fourth day without a water supply.

The reservoir supplying the village, Kilnamona, Cloonaha and its surrounding areas has been unable to function due to electricity outages caused by Storm Éowyn.

ESB predicts power will return to residents by this evening and its hoped this in turn this will return their water supply.

Local resident Brigid Rynne, who's also the owner of Wild Ireland Haberdashery in Miltown Malbay says the last number of days have been challenging, especially for vulnerable residents.

In Quilty, the vast majority of residents and businesses remain without power and without any mobile or landline coverage

The storm also took its damage on buildings, with the gable wall of a holiday home on Rine Row being completely destroyed, in addition to multiple mobile homes and several farm sheds were metal sheets were ripped apart.

Local Councillor Michael Shannon says the storm caused unprecedented damage in the area and that while a humanitarian assistance fund is urgently required, he believes much of the fallout could've been mitigated with upgraded infrastructure.

The Irish Blood Transfusion Service is warning that vital medical procedures could be cancelled imminently if Clare people don't offer their assistance.

The national blood supply has been heavily impacted by Storm Éowyn as well as high levels of respiratory illness, with blood stocks as low as three days for many groups.

Kilrush Community School will play host to a blood donation clinic this Wednesday from 5pm to 8pm and donors can register by calling 1800 222 111 or by logging onto giveblood.ie.

Broadford-based IBTS Donor Recruitment Executive Alex O'Connor has been telling Clare FM's Seán Lyons a never-before-seen amber alert could be issued to Irish hospitals if the situation isn't reversed.

Power has been restored to a further 6,000 premises across the Banner county, as just over 16,000 households and businesses brace for a fourth day without power. Supply was restored to properties in the Kilkee, Whitegate, Feakle, Tulla and Kilnamona areas yesterday evening, taking the total number of restorations seen in Clare to over 28,000. ESB crews have been working, meanwhile, to restore power to homes and businesses in Sixmilebridge, Moveen, Lahinch, Quilty, Broadford and Carigaholt across last night and this morning. The ESB has described Storm Éowyn as "by far the worst storm" it's ever experienced in terms of customers losing supply and the scale of damage to the network. ESB Technical Manager, Michael Sammin, says crews are still experiencing new faults and damages in Clare and there's still 'a week's work' in fully restoring power countywide.

It's hoped more of Clare's small and medium manufacturing businesses will branch out into global markets. New figures show Clare's Local Enterprise Office created 227 new jobs last year, which is an annual increase of 20%. The office also provided financial supports to firms collectively employing over 1,300 people in this county. Clare's Head of Enterprise Padraic McElwee says they're mentorship and training supports can also have a huge impact on a businesses success.
