A Clare forester is calling for families to reuse their artificial Christmas trees to offset their carbon.
Traditionally today, the last day of Christmas or Nollaig na mBan, is known as the day for Irish families to take down their decorations and throw away their tree.
Clare County Council is providing free tree disposal points at the Central Waste Management Facility, Inagh - Lisdeen Recycling Centre, Kilkee - Scariff Recycling Centre - Shannon Recycling Centre and the Gardening Section, Gort Rd, Ennis until January 20th
Former Green Councillor and Forester in Darragh, Brian Meaney believes that using real Christmas trees is better for the environment.
