A Clarecastle councillor claims he was "shocked" by a request to withdraw a motion he tabled at the most recent meeting of Ennis local representatives.
Ahead of the upcoming 50th anniversary of the first Fleadh Nua, Councillor Tom O'Callaghan, along with Councillor Johnny Flynn, called on the executive to "refrain from preventing" Comhaltas from using the Abbey Street Carpark Civic Space as a venue for events.
A number of the meeting's attendees took exception to the wording of the motion and asked for it to be withdrawn, with Councillors Mary Howard and Clare Colleran-Molloy describing it as "incorrect" and "null and void".
Fianna Fil Councillor O'Callaghan says he can't understand the level of opposition to what he believes is a common-sense proposal.
