It's claimed the approval of sewerage schemes for both Cooraclare and Broadford will finally allow communities in those villages to grow and prosper.

Both villages were today among the thirteen nationwide to be included in a €50m government pilot scheme aiming to connect unsewered rural settlements to wastewater infrastructure.

Clare Senator Timmy Dooley led a delegation of Clare Oireachtas Members to meet with the Minister in 2020, where he proposed a new type of scheme to provide wastewater facilities in villages where there is no Irish Water facilities already in place.

He says this development recognises the demand for people wanting to live in rural villages.

A Clarecastle councillor claims he was "shocked" by a request to withdraw a motion he tabled at the most recent meeting of Ennis local representatives.
