This one takes a little thought, as it's not a straightforward narrative. It's told through journal entries, with multiple narrators throughout. It'll be a fun ride - poorly executed Dracula accents aside.

Classics You Slept Through: Episode 28 - The Awakening (Chapters 1 -12)

It's the start of a new book - always an exciting time of promise! I'd never heard of this book until Mere mentioned it, but that's because I'm a dumb guy...ugh. And in true Baader-Meinhof fashion, it seems like every woman I mention this book to declares it to be their favorite. Apparently, I'm in for quite a ride.

Anyway, this classic by Kate Chopin is set in turn of the century Louisiana (turn of last century, I suppose we need to start saying), and it's a hot, humid, Creole affair, replete with French Words and French pronunciations.

Neither of us speak French, so please cut us some slack there. Likewise, I'm not Creole or southern, but feel free to criticize my terrible accents. They were... inconsistent.  At any rate, give these chapters a listen, let us know what you think of the new book, and we'll be back with you Tuesday to break this thing down!

Classics You Slept Through: Episode 27 - Northanger Abbey Wrap-up

Well, park the well-hung gig and hang up your sprigged muslin, because we've reached the end of this Regency romance. All's well that ends well: Catherine and Eleanor married and well provided for, Mrs. Allen fondly recalling outfits worn, and everyone else...well, I guess they're fine? Austen doesn't really tell us.

Well, we've reached the end of Northanger Abbey, our longest book to date, probably our most famous author yet.
