"Getting Real" is a Special Edition of the BWYR Podcast where we interview people whose lives have been changed by Saint John Paul ll's Theology of the Body.

This is a topic that was close to the heart of Saint John Paul ll who said, "...the fundamental error of socialism is anthropological in nature. Socialism considers the individual person simply as an element, a molecule within the social organism, so that the good of the individual is completely subordinated to the functioning of the socio-economic mechanism."

Dan M joins Jack to discuss Step 10 of the twelve steps and shares aspects of his remarkable journey and the miracles of everyday life when you live in the Spirit!

“We know that the law is spiritual (true, good and beautiful); but I am carnal (flesh), sold under sin. I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate...So then it is no longer I who do it, but sin which dwells within me. (Rom 7:14-17)

These are thoughts which must go with us constantly. We can exercise our will power along this line all we wish. It is the proper use of the will. Much has already been said about receiving strength, inspiration, and direction from Him who has all knowledge and power. If we have carefully followed directions, we have begun to sense the flow of His Spirit into us. 

To some extent we have become God-conscious. We have begun to develop this vital sixth sense. But we must go further and that means more action.

Monsignor Brian Bransfield is a priest of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, ordained in 1994. He serves as the General Secretary of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops in Washington, D.C. Prior to his service at the USCCB, Msgr. Bransfield served as a Professor of Moral Theology on the faculty of Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary in Philadelphia. He has also served in parish ministry, and as a high-school faculty member teaching freshman and senior theology. He is an adjunct Instructor at School of Canon Law at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. His articles have appeared in America Magazine, Our Sunday Visitor Newsweekly and Catechetical Leader, a publication of the National Conference of Catechetical Leadership. He is the author of The Human Person: According to John Paul II (June 2010); Living the Beatitudes: A Journey to Life in Christ (Pauline, 2011); From Guilt to Gift: A Catholic Guide to Overcoming Internet Pornography (Paulist, 2013); Meeting Jesus Christ: Meditations on the Word (Pauline, 2013), and Life Everlasting: The Mystery and the Promise(Pauline, 2015). God created man in His image, in the divine image He created him; male and female he created them (Gen 1:27) 

God is love. God’s very being is love. By sending his only Son and the Spirit of Love in the fullness of time, God has revealed His innermost secret: God himself is and eternal exchange of love, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and he has destined us to share in that exchange (CCC #221)
