When a wayward child (Ben Savage) tries to escape the Boy's Home, a kindly priest does his best to persuade him to stay by telling him a tale of himself as a young boy.

Clifford (Martin Short), while traveling with his parents (Richard Kind, Jennifer Savidge) to a convention in Hawaii, forces an emergency landing over LA in order to visit Dinosaur World that his estranged uncle Martin (Charles Grodin) happens to have designed.

Clifford lands in the middle of a crisis for Martin. His boss Ellis (Dabney Coleman) is breathing down his neck and his fiancee, Sarah Davis (Mary Steenburgen) is starting to think he's not as into the relationship as she is.
