Clintel Steed is an artist born in 1977 in Utah living and working in New York City. He holds a BFA in Painting from the Art Institute of Chicago, an MFA from Indiana University and completed Advanced Studies at the New York Studio School of Drawing, Painting and Sculpture.
In 2001, Clintel drove to New York City with his easel tied to the top of his car and settled in Harlem. He’s shown at Boghi Fine Art, the Bridge Art Fair, Ellen’s Run in Southampton, the Phillips Church in Harlem, amongst other venues.
He has received the John Koch Award from the National Academy of Arts and Letters, the Nicollet Reim Award, a Milton & Sally Avery Award and a Fuji Summer Scholarship from the New York Studio School.
Brian met up with Clintel in his Sunset Park studio in Brooklyn and they had a deep talk about life as an artist, Miles Davis,
