Today we’re going to talk today about a simple, first step to scaling which is small group coaching. My guest is Brynn Barale who empowers breast cancer survivors to lose weight without dieting so they can live a kick ass life after cancer. Last year, Brynn launched her first power group, which is the way we describe small groups inside The Hive. While Brynn loved working with her small group, she realized that she needs a retention plan to enroll her members into the next offer - whether that offer is to continue in the group or move into a different container. So, Brynn and I got to work designing the shape of her group coaching container and outlining a plan to invite current clients, power group members and even former clients into it. This was one of those coaching conversations where the client leaves feeling so enlivened and clear about their vision that they’re moved to tears. I love coaching sessions like this because they show us when we’re all aligned.
Let me highlight the steps Brynn and I took to turn her dream of a group coaching program into a clear vision she can act on.
Step One: Understand what your clients need.
Step Two: Build your program around your client’s feedback understanding what your own boundaries might be.
Step Three: Remember that less is more. People join a community to experience belonging more than anything else.
Step Four: Invite folks into your program. This can be a full blown launch, or it could be as simple as personally inviting a handful of current or former clients to get the ball rolling.
Okay, now that you’ve heard the high level overview, let’s get into the nitty gritty of designing a smart, simple and aligned retention program to serve your clients long term.

Today’s episode tackles an important question. Can you really, actually, truly build a business you really love? Building a business requires hard work and anybody saying otherwise is not giving you the full picture.
Our guest Tara Rhodes came into today’s episode wondering what happens when you realize that the business you’re building isn’t the business you want anymore. Tara is committed to helping quiet rebels who feel stuck in the middle be willing to look at their stuff so they can figure out who they want to be in the world. And over the last year and a bit, Tara has realized that a traditional coaching model isn’t the model for her anymore. So, the two of us had to rethink what it means to build a business you really love. And here’s the cool part…in the beginning, Tara really did not think that she could create a business model that lights her up while still being profitable. But when we tapped into the experience she wants to have inside her business and designed a model from that place, she began to really believe that it is possible to build a business she loves. We started by simply asking the question “what is it you truly love?” And that opened the doors to a whole new vision for Tara and her business. The end result? No more coaching. Instead, Tara plans to launch a podcast to build a subscription community that feels a lot like summer camp. You’ll understand why as you listen in.

So, this episode addresses the quiet fear a lot of newer coaches (or let’s be honest… veteran coaches like me) sometimes feel when we enroll a new client or roll out a new offer. What’s that fear? What if I won’t be able to deliver? What if I can’t actually help this client the way they want me to? That was the fear holding today’s guest back from actively selling.
Betsy Seybolt is a coach who believes that mindset is everything and she works to help you find time for yourself and stop your negative thinking. And even though she's a pro at helping others overcome negative thinking, she had some of her own worries to work through during our conversation. You see, though Betsy has a ton of life experience, her coaching business is pretty new and she hasn’t worked with paying clients yet. So a part of Betsy worried that she would not be able to serve her clients fully once they hired her. And it’s really difficult to sell coaching if you don’t quite believe in it. But Betsy has so much evidence in her life to prove that she is capable of holding a coaching container that can indeed deliver. She just needed a new perspective, which is exactly what we worked toward during our conversation.
I want to tell that you that about two weeks after we recorded, our friend Betsy signed a client. So something definitely shifted from our conversation. And I hope you experience a shift as well. If you ever worry you don’t have what it takes, this episode is for you.

Have you ever just needed to take a break from your business? Whether it’s health issues, a big move to another city, furthering your education or just family stuff, sometimes, life might require you to put your coaching business on the back burner. My guest today is Briana Wyatt who guides ambitious professionals to live more bravely, EMBOLDENED by self-trust, self-love and sacred power. Briana has been going through some major life shifts that require her to step back from her business. And though she knows a sabbatical is in order, she’s worried about feeling like she has to start again from scratch when she is ready to return to her business. So, the two of us talked through a process she can use to take a break while ensuring her business still has a pulse. Here’s the process we went through together:

So part of building a business you’re proud of is giving yourself permission to take an authentic stance about your work and the path your dream clients walk down. Sometimes taking a firm stance feels easy and inspiring. Other times… it’s tricky.
Those were the questions my guest, Angela Beeching, brought to the conversation today. Angela helps musicians get more of their best work out into the world so they can become the artists they are meant to be. She’s worked as a coach for many years and over that time, her confidence, her methodology, and her motivation has evolved. But Angela’s marketing message hasn’t completely kept up with that evolution. So we put our heads together today to help Angela lean into her stance and identify the message underneath Angela’s message. If you’d like to bring a little more bravery to your marketing, this episode is for you.
