1 Thessalonians 3:9-13As we enter the Advent season our culture tells us 'tis the season for shopping, eating, and "being jolly." As followers of Jesus, living in anticipation of his coming, we know that this season also brings great opportunity for a much deeper level of celebration and examination.

Mark 15-16On this "Christ the King" Sunday how appropriate that we finish our series on the Gospel of Mark by considering again the death and resurrection of Jesus. We look at the "story" behind the story discovering not only that Christ is the King, but just what kind of a King he truly is. He reigns, both now and forevermore!

Mark 14As Mark's narrative enters Jesus' final hours before his death, we witness the human weakness and failure on display all around him. Disciples falling asleep while they are supposed to be praying, one betraying him, another denying him, all deserting him. Many of us are familiar with failure as disciples of Jesus as well. Hear in this sermon words of promise and hope for the humans among us!

Mark 13On this International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church we remember in prayer brothers and sisters around the world suffering and isolated because of their faith in Christ. Reflecting on the words of Jesus from Mark 13 to disciples who were threatened with persecution, we consider our own invitation to stand firm and have hope amidst potential challenges to our faith.

Mark 11-12What does it mean for Jesus to have authority in our lives? In our church? We are reminded in this message that if Jesus was willing to take on the temple and the religious leaders of his day, then there isn't anything he won't take on in our day as well. What will it look like for you to not only live under his authority, but to minister in our world with his authority?

What a joy to have Rev. Jerry Ferguson, district superintendent of the Los Angeles District Church of the Nazarene, with us as our guest preacher. He continues in our series on Mark, calling us to be people who listen well to the words of Jesus.

Mark 7-8In this sermon we consider some of the ways that people only partially "see" the truth of who Jesus is and what he has come to do. Thankfully, Jesus offers a second touch to restore our vision and help us to see him clearly.

Dr. Benefiel, dean of the School of Theology and Christian Ministry at Point Loma Nazarene University speaks of God's invitation to the Church to participate in His mission in the world, particularly by the ways that we demonstrate our love for one another.

Mark 6In three consecutive stories from Jesus' ministry Mark reminds his readers that opposition is a way of life for the Christian. Jesus was mocked, his disciples rejected, and John the Baptist paid the ultimate price. The follower of Jesus today should expect no less. However, Mark would also want us to know that there is actually something worse than facing opposition - the possibility that we might actualy be the opposition.

Mark 5If you have ever been on a mission trip then you know the joy of serving and sharing in ministry with those of another culture. In this passage we find Jesus and his disciples on a one-day mission trip - connecting with someone desperate for the healing touch of Jesus and further revealing the heart of his mission.
