Birthright is a free, 10-day trip offered to young Jews, to visit Israel and the Golan Heights. Join CODEPINK to hear from voices on the ground in Palestine and other guest speakers who will outline how these propaganda trips help facilitate the further colonization of Palestine.
In this episode, CODEPINK's Marcy Winograd debriefs the International Summit for Peace in Ukraine with CODEPINK co-founder Medea Benjamin and former State Department diplomat Ann Wright. Both women participated in the peace summit, held in Vienna, Austria, June 10-11th, to mobilize peace activists from 32 countries to echo the call of the Global South for a ceasefire in Ukraine. During the second half of the program, journalist and human rights lawyer Dan Kovalik shares his insights after a recent visit to Moscow-- and Crimea, a peninsula on the Black Sea, home to ethnic Russians and Russia's naval fleet.
This episode will feature perspectives from Jodie Evans of CODEPINK's China is Not Our Enemy Campaign and Tings Chak from Tri-Continental and The DongSHeng News. We're examining the reality of China - challenging the lies, distortion, and exaggeration used to paint them as an enemy. What is life truly like in the country?
June is Pride Month, and while it is celebrated worldwide, the increasing anti-trans and LGBTQ+ hate continues to be a concern. In this episode, we will explore the intersection of queer liberation and anti-militarism. I will be joined by my co-organizer at CODEPINK, Tim Biondo, and we will listen to a clip from a Seattle town hall called Queer Anti-Militarism: Trans Liberation, Not U.S. Invasion at the Barnard Center for Research on Women. If you're in Washington D.C., join CODEPINK and partners as we march in the Capitol Pride Parade on June 10th. If you're not, bring anti-militarism messaging to a Pride Month event happening near you!
In this week's episode, CODEPINK Congress Coordinator Marcy Winograd interviews economist, public
policy analyst and prolific author Jeffrey Sachs on how the bloated military budget drives the debt
crisis. Sachs estimates US debt at $24-trillion dollars, much of it the result of US wars in Iraq, Afghanistan
and Ukraine, as well the maintenance of 800 military bases abroad, development of new weapons systems
and a nuclear rearmament program in violation of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, which the US
ratified over 50 years ago. Sachs says no to NATO expansion and warns the US must seek a ceasefire in Ukraine
and not start another proxy war with China over Taiwan. Peace is the path forward, according to Sachs.
In 1971, Daniel Ellsberg leaked the Pentagon Papers, documenting decades of lies and mistakes in Vietnam. At 91, he faces a new battle: inoperable cancer. Join CODEPINK for “Daniel Ellsberg Week” to celebrate the life’s work of Daniel Ellsberg. Guest speakers include: Gabriel Shipton, John Kiriakou and Jesselyn Radack.
March 2023 witnessed the beginning of campaign season for Guatemala’s general elections. With less than three months before the June 25 vote, concerns are mounting among national and international observers over the integrity of the process due to Guatemala’s Supreme Electoral Tribunal having blocked several opposition candidates from running. This includes candidates of the Movement for the Liberation of Peoples grassroots political party.
Today, we bring you the voices of those gathered at the Latin America and Caribbean policy forum recently held in Washington DC. The forum was titled, “In Search of a New U.S. Policy for a New Latin America: Burying 200 Years of the Monroe Doctrine.”
