It's time for a Marvel Movie Catch Up! Danny and Kevin discuss the Marvel Organization Designed Only for Profit and its latest output: the second Black Panther and the third Ant-Man. One was a pretty decent follow-up to a good movie and the other was an abysmal conclusion to a pair of fun movies. The fellas ponder the future of this most lucrative of cinematic universes and wonder if disastrous ruination is the destiny of all such endeavors. And if flippant discussions about mental health are not your cup of tea please be aware that such conversations occur throughout this episode.

It's Star Wars season* and that means another conversation/therapy session about whether or not it's time for us to move on with our lives. Well, spoilers, it's not. Danny and Kevin watched the third season of The Mandalorian, read the news from Star Wars Celebration, and saw the Ahsoka trailer. Star Wars, it seems, is not finished with us.

Just when we thought we were out, they pull us back in! Danny and Kevin were convinced cinema was going the way of the dodo thanks to the rise of streaming services and too many effects driven films with all style and no substance. Hollywood has struggled with originality for years. But some brave souls at Paramount Pictures had the wholly original idea of taking a well-known IP and slapping its name on a movie that tells a familiar and somewhat predictable story, but earnestly and with care. Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves surprised Danny and Kevin a bit and melted their cold, dead hearts. The duo review this film and compare it to the first attempt at making a movie franchise out of the game, Dungeons and Dragons (2000), New Line Cinema's most epic fantasy film to date.

Danny and Kevin continue their 2022 Catch-Up with a discussion on the year's hottest trend: Subtle social satire about the demons who have all the goddamn money. They discuss Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery by Rian Johnson - director of The Last Jedi, The Menu, Triangle of Sadness, and some other random movies like The King's Man and The Batman, naturally.

Danny and Kevin have been catching up on films they missed in 2022 that they wanted to talk about. This first episode of a two part series was made possible thanks to the streaming services that allowed the duo to watch these pictures from the comfort of their own homes. The movies reviewed were Nope (Peacock), Weird: The Al Yankovic Story (The Roku Channel), The Banshees of Inisherin (HBO Max), and All Quiet on the Western Front (Netflix).

Situated right in the middle of the bullshit "days" in March, between Pi Day and Evacuation Day (for all you Bostonian dirtbags out there), sits the Ides of March. Danny and Kevin therefore thought it timely to discuss a show they have both watched but not really talked to each other about: Rome. Rome is an excellent historical drama that aired on HBO from 2005-2007, and unlike the Empire it dramatized, has not stood the test of time in terms of remaining relevant in public consciousness. Cross the Rubicon with us as we discuss why the show works so well, why nobody watched it, and what it could have been had it remained in production.

It's been a minute, folks. Life is a series of ebbs and flows and, unfortunately, life was at an ebb for Danny and so we've been "off the air" since January. But we are making a triumphant return to podcasting with an hour-long episode on...Moonfall. Yeah, we talked about Moonfall. Roland Emmerich's latest (and hopefully, last) film about everything going to shit is, unsurprisingly, a big pile of shite. Danny and Kevin discuss the ups and downs of Emmerich's less-than-illustrious career and suggest an alternative future for this wannabe Spielberg/hack fraud. We'll be returning to our usual semi-weekly schedule and we hope you keep listening to and enjoying our little enterprise.

The clouds have parted for cinema and what can we see? Whales. And no, we're not talking about the whales from that Star Trek movie that had the whales in it. Nor are we talking about Brendan Fraser's uncharacteristically heartbreaking performance in Darren Aronofsky's characteristically exhausting film school project. No, we're talking about a slightly larger whale in a much larger film. That's right, folks, it's time for the long-awaited sequel to Avatar...Avatar: The Way of Water. James Cameron returns from the depths of his own ego to remind us how movies of this type are actually meant to look, work, and feel. It's Jim's world, we just live in it. So take the blue pill and join us (and the rest of the world) in rooting for the Viet Cong. Oel ngati kameie. P.S. Danny and Kevin close out Season 2 with a feature-length commentary on Tim Burton's Christmas classic, Batman Returns. The duo watched the film together on Christmas Eve while drinking hot cocoa. They absolutely did NOT record this on New Year's Day. So sit back and relax as your intrepid podcasters talk over the kinkiest Batman film ever made. Danny and Kevin travel back to Middle Earth. This time, The Two Towers is reviewed as it celebrates its twentieth anniversary. The duo avoid talking about how awesome The Battle of Helm's Deep sequence is for as long as possible and break down this middle chapter that balances a ton of walking with a ton of swords. You will hear orc and Uruk-hai quotes that are not drops, but are instead provided by Danny himself. Eat your heart out, Tom Kane! Please note that this episode also features an appearance by a word that is far more socially acceptable in the British Isles than it is here in the former colonies.
